[57994] "The Bangor Daily News {Bangor, Maine]," 20 April 2011: "Jonesport - Eula Kathleen (Beal) Fish, 85, died April 16, 2011, at Sunrise Care Facility, Jonesport, after a short illness. She was born Dec. 14, 1925, in Jonesport, to Harold Freeman Beal and Phyllis Marie (Worcester) Beal. Eula was a former Jonesport town treasurer, a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and a founding member of the Tuesday Night Club, which met weekly for more than 50 years. She graduated from Jonesport High School in 1943, married her handsome sailor man, Harry Sawyer Fish, July 29, 1943, and went to work in an office and ammunitions factory in Boston. When Harry was discharged from the Coast Guard in 1944, they returned to Jonesport to raise a family, which at one time included her great-niece, Tiffany Beal Levasseur. Eula assisted in her husband's tax and accounting business, managed the town of Jonesport's finances for many years, and delighted her family as an exceptional pastry cook, a skill learned from her mother. In the early 1980s she, Harry and their son, Harry Jr., rebuilt a Newfoundland net boat into a staysail schooner. Eula and Harry sailed the Eula K. Fish from Maine to the Bahamas in 1984 and made many cruising friends during the eight years they lived aboard. In 1992 they returned year-round to Jonesport to spend more time with their grandchildren. Eula was predeceased by her husband, Harry, who died in September 2002. She is survived by her brother, Harold F. 'Buzz' Beal Jr. and wife, Helen; her son, Harry S. Fish Jr. and wife, Sherry; her daughter, Laura L. Fish Herzog and husband, Rick; and two beloved grandchildren, Aaron T. Fish Herzog and Inge Kathleen Herzog, all of Jonesport. She also leaves two special cousins, Rosalie Palmer Carver and Lucille Palmer Woodward; as well as many other friends and relatives.
