[17371] The 15 Aug 1850 census of Penobscot, ME lists Peletiah and his family, and shows that he is very prosperous - real estate is valued at $2,000, very high for a farmer in that town.

[21374] Lawrence and Judith also had Dependence, born 15 Feb 1646, Josiah, born 1647, and Experience (d. 1673). NEHGR (1848) 2:64 states that Lawrence was among the first settlers (1640) of Barnstable, MA. NEHGR (1855) 9:181 presents a genealogy of Lawrence Littlefield by the Rev. Asner Morse which reports that he was a member of the Boston Artillery Co. in 1640 and on the muster roll in 1643 at Barnstable. See James Savage, "A Genealogical Dictionary of The First Settlers of New England, Before 1692," (Boston: Little, Brown, 1860-1862), Vol. 3: "[Litchfield] Lawrence, Barnstable 1640, thot. to be progenit. of all of this name in N. E. rem. aft. 1643, and in 1646 is found at Scituate, had d. Dependence, b. 15 Feb. that yr.; and, perhaps, Josiah, 1647; but at B. had d. Remember (wh. Deane says, m. a Lewis of Barnstable, but I doubt his accuracy); and s. Experience, bef. ment. He a. 1650 at .S. and his wid. Judith, perhaps d. of William Dennis of Scituate, m. that yr. William Peaks." See also Philip J. and June C. Curier, compilers, "Litchfield Family Records, mainly descendants of Lawrence Litchfield of Scituate Mass, 1634," 2 vols. (Henniker, New Hampshire: by the author, 1982) for descendants. See also "Descendants of Lawrence Litchfield" at http://fergie34.tripod.com/litchfld.htm and "Genealogical and Personal Memoirs Relating to the Families of Boston and Eastern Massachusetts, Vol. 4," William Richard Cutter (New York: Lewis Historical Pub. Co., 1908), p. 1933. For the culture of New England during his lifetime and beyond, see "Albion's Seed: Four British Folkways in America," David Hackett Fischer (NY: Oxford University Press, 1989), pp. 13-205. Ancestry.com offers: "Litchfield Name Meaning - habitational name from Lichfield in Staffordshire. The first element preserves a British name recorded as Letocetum during the Romano-British period. This means 'gray wood', from words which are the ancestors of Welsh llwyd 'gray' and coed 'wood'. By the Old English period this had been reduced to Licced, and the element feld 'pasture', 'open country' was added to describe a patch of cleared land within the ancient wood. habitational name from Litchfield in Hampshire, recorded in Domesday Book as Liveselle. This is probably from an Old English hlif 'shelter' + Old English scylf 'shelf', 'ledge'. The subsequent transformation of the place name may be the result of folk etymological association with Old English hliư, hlid 'slope' + feld 'open country'."
[30737] The unverified "West Wheeling, OH Pioneer Families" file in 2010 in Ancestry.com states Andrew m. Barbara Renoil (b. 1712, d. 2 May 1796 in York Co., PA).
