[16582] Henr came to Exeter, NH from Dorchester in 1639, joined in building a sawmill in 1649 and was selectman in 1650. He m. (1) Ruth Moore (d. 5 May 1673) and (2) 19 Jan 1674 Elizabeth (nee Philbrick)(Chase) Garland(d. 11 Feb 1677) and (3) Sarah (then a widow; d. 23 Jan 1703). He served as selectman, constable, justice, etc., and kept an inn which he widow managed after him. For children see "Gen. Dict. of ME & NH".See "The Pioneers of Maine and New Hamphsire, 1623-1660," Charles Henry Pope (Baltimore, MD: Clearfield Co., reprinted 2002), p. 176. Per the town of Hampton, NH's webpage for the Shaw Cemetery: "A genealogy of the Robie family (Robey, William Grafton, Jr., "Robey/Roby/Robie: The Family History from Early England to America," 1994, p.9) states that the immigrant Henry Robie married, as his third wife, a Sarah Shaw, and both of them were buried in the Shaw Cemetery. It says that while no stone marked the grave of Henry there was a stone marking the grave of Sarah. By the time these Shaw cemetery records were first compiled in the 1980s there was no stone for a Sarah Shaw or Sarah Robie, so it is likely that the author of the Robie genealogy was quoting the work of a much earlier genealogist who may have seen a stone that once was there. Other credible sources state that the name of Robie's third wife is not known, and there is no unclaimed Sarah Shaw in the Shaw family to explain where she would fit..."
