Other boys admiited at the same time were born between 11 Feb. 1647 and 14 Dec. 1656. The Merchant Taylors' School was a grammar school founded in 1560 to prepare scholars for St. John's College, Oxford, which was founded by Sir Thomas White of the Merchant Taylors' Company in 1557. [A Register of the Scholars Admitted Into Merchant Taylors' School: From A. D. 1562 to 1874, Compiled from Authentic Sources and Edited with Biographical Notices, by Rev. Charles John Robinson, London (England), Printed and published for the editor by Farncombe & Co., Lewes, 1882

A Handley family appears in the records of West Hallam, Derbyshire at about this time. "1633[/34] January 10 Maria filia Thomae et Margareta Handley baptizata fuit" [p. 101]; "Aprill 4 Thomas Hauley [listed as Handley in index] aliis Shaldley, familius Mrs. Cossand, Powth : et Margaretta Hutchinson de West Hall, filia Walteri, Nepti fuere in Ecclecia West Hallu[m] inter horis nona et undina ante meridie die p'di" listed under a heading that reads, "Weddings, Nuptials--1638, Henry Holmes, Rect'," but just before an undated baptism and then a baptism for 1631 and then a list of burials starting in 1623 [p. 103]; "Bap. Franciscus filiu(s) Thomi et Margareta Hanly baptizatus fuit decimo quinto die Augusti an(no) 1639" [p.102]; "Mary, daughter of Thomas Handley and Ester his wife bap. Jan : 26, 1654" [p. 107]; "Margaret daughter of Tho. Handley and Ester his wife baptized Sept. 12, 1659" [p. 108] "East the wife of Thomas Handley junr. was buried June 28th 1666" [p. 112]; "Thomas Handley buried October ye 12th 1671" [p. 114]; "1673 Thomas the son of Tho. and Elizabeth Handley baptized March 15th" [p. 114] [Charles Kerry, "A Literal Transcript of the Oldest Register of West Hallum, Derbyshire," Journal of the Derbyshire Archaeological and Natural History Society, Vol. IX, p. 94-117.
A Thomas Handley was admitted as a freeman of York in 1629-30. "Per Patres, Thomas Handley, generosus, fil. Godfridi Handley, tanner [p. 82]." In 1636, Thomas Handley, gent. appears in the list of men (aldermen?) (starting with the mayor) which preceeds the list of freemen admitted that year [p. 89]. Godfrid Handley, tanner, was admitted in 1600-01 [p. 46]. "Pett. (sic), tanner" was admitted in 1638-39 [p. 94]. "Joh. Handlay, parchmentmaker" was admitted in 1569 [p. 11]. [Francis Collins, Register of the Freemen of the City of York, From City Records, Vol. II, 1559-1759, Publications of the Surtees Society, Vol. CII, 1899, available on Google Books at
Vol. I of the Register of the Freemen of the City of York, 1272-1558 [Publications of the Surtees Society, Vol. XCVI, 1896] lists "Thomas Handley, phisicus" admitted 1475-76 [p. 196] and "Johannes Handley, tanner" admitted 1505-06 [p. 230].

In 2007 http://fmg.ac/Projects/MedLands/SWABIA.htm offers: "Friedrich von Staufen (1090-Alzey 4 or 6 Apr 1147, bur Walburg Abbey). The primary source which confirms his parentage has not yet been identified. He succeeded his father as Friedrich II 'der Einäugige' Duke of Swabia in 1105. Regent of Germany 1116. His maternal uncle Emperor Heinrich V considered him as his successor and bequeathed him the Salian dynasty's family properties to increase his personal prestige, but on the Emperor's death in 1125 Friedrich was passed over as candidate for the German throne in favour of Lothar von Süpplingenburg Duke of Saxony whom the German nobility saw as less of a dynastic threat. After refusing to hand over his inherited crown lands to the new king, Duke Friedrich was outlawed. Friedrich eventually submitted to Emperor Lothar in 1135 with his brother. He agreed to transfer the crown lands, but was allowed to remain as Duke of Swabia. The 'Gesta Friderici' of Otto of Freising records the death of Duke Friedrich and his burial 'in monasterio sanctæ Waltpurge . . . in terminis Alsatiæ sito'. The Necrology of Zwiefalten records the death 'VIII Id Apr' of 'Fridericus dux de Stouphin'.
" - m firstly ([1119/21]) Judith of Bavaria, daughter of Heinrich 'dem Schwarzen' Duke of Bavaria [Welf] & his wife Wulfhild of Saxony [Billung] (after 1100-22 Feb [1130/31], bur Walburg im Heiligen Forst, Alsace). The 'Historia Welforum' names (in order) 'Iuditham, Sophiam, Mahtildem, Wulfildem' as the four daughters of 'Heinricus dux ex Wulfilde', specifying that Judith married 'Friderico Suevorum duci'. The Annalista Saxo names 'Heinricum inclitum ducem Saxonie et Bawarie et Welfonem et quatuor filias' as children of Duke Heinrich and his wife Wulfhild, specifying that one of the daughters (mentioned first in the list of daughters, but not named) married 'Fridericus dux Suevorum'.
" - m secondly ([1132/33]) Agnes von Saarbrücken, daughter of Friedrich I von Saarbrücken Graf im Saargau & his wife Gisela _____ (-after 1147). The 'Urspergensium Chronicon' refers to the second wife of 'Friedrich I pater ipsius' as 'de genere comitum . . . Zwainbrug et de Sarbrug'. The 'Gesta Friderici' of Otto of Freising records the marriage of 'Fridericus dux, mortua uxore sua Iuditha' and 'Friderici comitis de Sarbruch, fratris Alberti episcopi, filiam Agnetem'."
