"The Rock Island Agrus, 15 July 1963," p. 16: "Monmouth - Funeral services for Mrs. Ida Heichel, 88, of 403 S. 5th St , who died Saturday in Monmouth Hospital, where she had been a patient for 20 days, will be held at 2.30 tomorrow afternoon in the Turnbull Funeral Home. The Rev. Theo Erickson of Emmanuel Baptist Church will officiate and burial will be in the Center Grove Cemetery at Kirkwood. Friends may call at the funeral home. Mrs. Heichel, the former Ida Cannon, was born Aug. 30, 1874, in Warren County, a daughter of Charles and Sarah Scott Cannon. She was married to Herschel T. Heichel in May 1894. Mrs. Heichel spent all of her life in Warren County. She was a member of the Methodist Church, in Smithshire, the Womans Society of Christian Service and the Mary Circle. Surviving are a son, Floyd Heichel of San Antonio, Tex.; a brother, A. C. Cannon of Ontario, Calif.; a grandson, Dean Jamison of Milford, Mich., and two great-grandsons. She was preceded in death by her husband, a sister, two brothers and a daughter."

Prior to his retirement in 1995 he had worked for the Campbell Soup Company for 35 years. Melvin was born in Lucas County on September 18, 1932, the son of Clyde D. and Mary V. (Mohr) Jewell. On June 25, 1955, he married Elfrieda Pelton, and she survives. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War. Melvin loved to work with wood and refinish furniture, then give it away. He also enjoyed hiking in Oak Openings, where he knew every trail. Surviving besides his wife, Elfrieda, is son, Dennis (Sandra) Jewell of Swanton; daughter, Diana (Tracy) Ziegler of Archbold; grandchildren, Alan, Tiffany (Billy) , and Nathan Jewell & Donovan (Jennifer), Michael (Crystal), and Lisa (Robert) Ziegler; great-grandchildren, Kadence, Melody and Merrick; and step-great-grandchildren, Meara and Kadince. He is also survived by brother, Gary (Susan) Jewell of Monroe, Michigan. He was preceded in death by both parents."

Freeman, died at her home, near Loysville, about 12.30 p.m., Thursday, of a cerebral hemorrhage, having been ill since December 9, and not in the best of health for several years. She was a daughter of William and Sarah Billman Shumaker and was born and lived her entire life in the vicinity of Loysville. She was a member of the Loysville Lutheran church and Ladies' Aid Society, a very industrious, kind-hearted woman, a devoted wife and mother, who had many friends. Surviving her are her husband and the following children: Naomi, Mrs. William Sheibley, of near Bloomfield; Cleve, of Loysville; Elizabeth, Mrs. Harvey Morrow, of Carlisle; Orie, at home; Herbert and James, of Elliottsburg; Mae, Mrs. Omer Stuber, of Ickesburg; also, twenty-six grandchildren and a brother, S. B. Shumaker, of Harrisburg. Funeral services were held at the residence yesterday, Tuesday, at 10.30 a. her pastor, Rev. J. Grover C. Knipple, officiating, assisted by Rev. G. R. Heim, and burial was In Restland cemetery. The pallbearers were five grandsons, Melvin, Herbert, Chester and Donald Sheibley, George Morrow and a nephew, Lester Shumaker."

She was born in Woodland March 23, 1907, the daughter of George and Albena (Hersey) Snowman. Mrs Steeves was a member of the First Baptist Church of Woodland where she was also a member of the Mission Circle. She was a member of the Woodland Extension as well as the Woodland Historical Society. Mrs. Steeves was the director of housekeeping at Cary Memorial Hospital for many years and also had been employed by the Woodland School Dept for several years. She is survived by her daughter, Lucille Dickinson of Homestead, Fla.; her son and daughter-in-law, Frederick and Mary Lou Steeves of Windham; two grandsons, Paul Steeves and his wife Stacey of Hollis, Jay Dickinson and his wife Laurie of St George, Ga.; six greatgrandchildren, Rocky, Lucy, Beau, Kati,e Jeanne and Benjamin; two sisters-in-law, Florence Snowman of Coudersport, Pa. and Virginia Snowman of Augusta; special family friends, Liz and Dwight Stickles of Caribou; several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Seeves was predeceased by her husband, Burpee, in 1982, two brothers, Milton and Clyde Snowman, a son-in-law, Raymond Dickinson, and a grandson, Garry Dickinson."
[40887] "Lansing State Journal [Lansing, Michigan], 26 December 1958," p. 17: "Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Monday at the Berl Field funeral home, Dimondale, for Fred E. Twichell, 83, who died unexpectedly Tuesday in Los Angeles. He was the father of 10 children, including three central Michigan businessmen. Among them is Burr Twichell, dry cleaner and former East Lansing councilman. A son, Maurice, owns an Eaton Rapids grocery, and another son Arthur, is a dry cleaner in Bellevue. Two sons are employed by the Michigan State university. Harley of East Lansing is connected with the chemistry laboratory and Roy of Eaton Rapids is associated with the university's farm crops section. Another son, Elmer, lives and works in Eaton Rapids, which also is the home of a daughter, Mrs. Verna McCarrick. He had not been hospitalized. Death was attributed to a heart attack. Another son, Harvey, lives in Wichita, Kan., and another daughter, Mrs. Bessie North, lives in St Petersburg, Fla. A brother, Frank, makes his home in Lansing. Twenty-seven grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren also survive." Fred is son of Edward B. Twichell and Martha M. Dunbar.
