[60384] "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 7 February 2015: "Bangor - Stephen Talbot Emery passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family on February 5, 2015. He was born May 22, 1948, in Bangor, to the late Lawrence W. Emery and Virginia (Moulton) Emery. He graduated from Bangor High School, class of 1966, and Southern Connecticut State College, New Haven, CT, in 1970. He then worked for the California Department of Water Resource Control while attending The University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento, CA, graduating with a Juris Doctorate in 1976. Upon returning to Bangor in 1977, he and his partner and friend, David Leen, established a law practice, Leen and Emery. In his practice of law, Steve distinguished himself as one of the most prominent workers' compensation lawyers in the State of Maine. He was a member of the Maine State Bar Association, Penobscot County Bar Association, Maine Trial Lawyers Association and the Defense Research Institute. In addition to practicing law, Steve was an active member of Beth Abraham Synagogue in Bangor, serving as Financial Secretary and on the Chevra Kadisha. He was a board member for both the Jewish Community Endowment Association and the Jewish Community Center, and served as Chairman of the Bangor chapter of the United Jewish Appeal. Aside from his commitment to the Jewish community, he took special pride in his time as Chairman of the Board of New Hope Hospice in Eddington, Maine. A lifelong fly-fishing enthusiast, he became an avid member and supporter of the Eddington, Veazie and Penobscot Salmon Clubs. Steve led a balanced life, with his top priority being his family and many friends. He was a man of great decency, humility, intelligence and wit, who truly lived up to his fullest potential. Steve is survived by his wife of 44 years, Louise Shindler; two children, Aaron Emery of Tucson, AZ, and Polly Emery of Boston, MA; four brothers, Larry Emery Jr. and wife, Maggie, of Williamsport, PA, Phil Emery of Brewer, Tim Emery of Bucksport and Tom Emery and wife, Jill, of Cape Elizabeth; a sister, Margaret Wagner and husband, Robert, of Howell, N.J.; brothers-in-law, Sam Shindler and wife, Claire, of Hamden, CT, and Raymond Shindler of Atlanta, GA; as well as many beloved cousins, nephews, nieces and dear friends."

[42108] His daughter, Linda McNeal Millerick, posted in Find A Grave Memorial 54003404: "My father, Frank, shares a WWII veteran marker headstone with his beloved friend and spouse, Loretto Margaret Warner McNeal although he is not buried there. He donated his body to UC San Francisco Medical Center/UCSF for scientific research so will never be buried in Cemeterio El Encinal as was previously planned. He felt he could do more good to science and his fellow man by donating his body for cadaver research. He gave of himself all his life, so continues to do so after his death. Born George Franklin McNeal. He later changed his name to Frank G., with aka as F.G., Frank, being better known as 'Doc' most of the time. Frank helped build the original Dennis the Menace Park in Monterey, then went back years later to assist with the refurbishing of the same park. He was there for the placement of the old railroad switcher which was dear to his heart because his own father had been a 38 year veteran and Engineer for the Pennsylvania Rail Road. Frank was a Dental Prosthestician at Valley Forge Army Hospital in Chester County, Pennsylvania helping repair many service personnel returning from World War II. Frank relocated to Fort Ord, CA when Valley Forge was closed in 1950. He worked at the old DC 1 and 2 at Fort Ord, retiring in 1975 as Chief Dental Prosthestician at Stone Dental Clinic, Fort Ord, CA. after 40+ years Civil Service with the Department of the Army. In his position he trained the Dentists in their laboratory techniques and processes including Dr. Auger, Dr. Brown - local Dentists, among many others who are now scattered across the U.S. At Altoona High School in Altoona, Blair, Pennsylvania Frank was called 'Doc' as football and basketball team trainer. He ran relays, dashes and hurdles on the Track and Field Team and retained a lifelong passion for Track and Field, later working closely with the atheletes of the Scottish Games at Monterey, Santa Rosa and Pleasanton. He hand crafted competition Cabers from trees he special ordered from Tynan Lumber Company of Monterey. They had to be to his specifications for length and weight ,but most importantly - their straightness, with no cracks or splits. Frank's Challenge Cabers were written about in the 'Galley' of Clan Macneil Association of America and the programs at the games where his Cabers were 'tossed' by the world class competitors, including, but not limited to John Ross, Keith Tice and Jim McGoldrick. He treasured his many friendships with these very special competitors and though he was towered over by them, he was just as big as them, in so many special ways that I'll always treasure, as his daughter. He received the Macneill Order of Merit # 9 (MOM #9)from the Clan Macneill Association of America for his dedication to preserving and fostering his Scottish heritage. He was my life coach and supporter as well as a mentor to so many friends of me and my siblings, especially Perlita Bucaloy, his other daughter who shared a special, mutual bond. Frank helped all his neighbors as well as his grandchildren Scott, Dale & Brenda Jensen, Chris & Jodi Draeger, Heather & Megan McNeal and Shawn Millerick. He loved them all as well as his great grandchildren Christopher & Michael Jensen of Salinas, CA; Melissa & Dennis Jensen of South Dakota; twins Bayleigh & Madison & sister Hannah Correll of Georgia; Brittny M. Sattler of Salinas; Ian Jensen & his cousin Ryan Jensen of Salinas, California."
