[20591] William m. Lady Anne Wydeville (d. 1489) and had Henry (1472-1539: K.G., Earl of Essex, m. ca. 1498 Mary Say) and Hon. Cecily (eldest child)(m. John, 8th Lord Ferrers of Chartley who d. 1501). Concerning Henry, "The Dictionary of National Biography, Vol. 6" on the web at http://www.manninghouse.co.uk/FamilyTree/ReferenceBooks/NationlBiograhyVol6.htm offers: "Bourchier, Henry, second Earl of Essex (d. 1539), was the son of William Bourchier and the grandson of henry Bourchier, first earl [q.v.] His mother was Anne Woodville, sister of the queen of Edward IV. He succeeded his grandfather in 1483. He was a member of the privy council of Henry VII. In 1492 he was present at the siege of Boulogne. At the knighthood of henry, duke of York (Henry VIII), the earl took a prominent part in the ceremonies, and was one of the challengers at the jousts held in honour of the event. In 1497 he commanded a detachment against the rebels at Blackheath. he accompanied the king and queen when they crossed to Calais in 1500, to hold an interview with the Duke of Burgundy. The next year he was one of those appointed to meet Catherine of Arragon. On the accession of henry VIII he was made captain of the new bodyguard. During the early years of the king's reign he took a prominent part in the revels in which Henry delighted. Constant references may be found in the State Papers to the earl's share in these entertainment's. For example, in 1510 he and others the king among the number, dressed themselves as Robin Hood's men in a revel given for the queen's delectation. He was also constantly employed in state ceremonies, such as meeting papal envoys, ad in 1514, when the pope sent Henry a cap and sword; in 1515, when he met the prothonotary who brought over the cardinal's hat for Wolsey; and in 1524, when Dr. Hanyball came over with the golden rose for the king. These and such like engagements necessarily put him to great expense. He received some grants from Henry, and appears both as a pensioner and debtor of the crown. On one occasion his tailor seems to have had some difficulty in getting his bill settled. He served at the sieges of Terouenne and Tournay as 'lieutenant-general of the spears' (Herbert) in 1513, and the next year was made chief captain of the king's forces. When the king's sister Margaret, widow of James IV and wife of the Earl of Angus, sought refuge in England, the Earl of Essex, in company with the king, Suffolk, and Sir G. Carew, held the lists in the jousts give in her honour. In 1520 he attended the at the celebrated meeting held at Guisnes. He sat as one of the judges of the Duke of Buckingham, and received the manor of Bedminster as his share of the duke's estates. In 1525, when engaged in raising money of the crown from the men of Essex, he wrote to Wolsey, pointing out the danger of an insurrection, and by the king's command took a company to the borders of Essex and Suffolk to overawe the malcontent. On a division being made of the council in 1526 for purposes of business, his name was placed with those who were to treat of matters of law. He joined in the letter sent by a number of English nobles to Clement VII in 1530, warning him that unless he hastened the king's divorce, his supremacy would be endangered. While riding a young horse, in 1539, he was thrown and broke his neck. As he had no male issue by his wife Mary, his earldom (0f Essex) and viscounty (Bourchier) became extinct at his death. His barony descended t his daughter Anne, who married William Parr, afterwards Earl of Essex. [Hall's Chron. (Hen. VIII), f. 6, 8, 26, 63, ed. 1548; Stow's Annals; Polydore Vergil's Historia Anglica, 1437, 1521, ed. 1603; Letter, Ric, III and Hen. VII, Rolls Series; Herbert;s Life and Reign of Henry VIII, 34; Cal. of State Papers, Hen. VIII, ed. Brewer, passim; Dugdale's Baronage, ii. 130.]" {A descent from William and Anne through their daughter, Cecily (1464-1492, married John Devereux [1461-1501] is offered at http://www.manninghouse.co.uk/FamilyTree/Associated/RobertDevereux.htm.}

In 2010 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eric_II,_Duke_of_Pomerania offers: "Eric II or Erich II, of the House of Pomerania (Griffins), (b. between 1418 and 1425, d. 1474), was Duke of Pomerania-Wolgast from 1457 to 1474. He was the son of Wartislaw IX of Pomerania-Wolgast and Sophia of Saxe-Lauenburg (d. 1462, daughter of Eric IV of Saxe-Lauenburg), and married to Sophia of Pomerania-Stolp. With his wife, he had nine children, including his successor Bogislaw X.
"In 1451, Wartislaw IX arranged his son's marriage to Sophia, daughter of Bogislaw IX of Pomerania-Stolp and heiress of Eric I of Pomerania-Stolp, who had also been king of the Kalmar Union. The marriage of these distant relatives granted Eric II access to Eric I's lands in Farther Pomerania. Also, Eric I arranged the Lauenburg-BĂĽtow Land at the Pomerelian border to be granted by the Polish king to Eric II in January 3, 1455, as a reward for aiding Poland in her struggles with the Teutonic Knights.
"In 1456, Eric took over Wassow Land in Farther Pomerania, despite Wassow being not included in his share of Pomerania. This led to conflicts with Otto III, Duke of Pomerania-Stettin and even Eric I. Even though the Pomeranian cities were able to mediate negotiations between the dukes which led to a compromise in January 16, 1457, at RĂĽgenwalde, Eric lost the support of the other Pomeranian dukes with this action.
"In August of 1457, Eric was hunting in the forests near Horst, belonging not to his lands, but to the Hanseatic city of Greifswald. In further disrespect of the city's rights he ordered local peasants to aid him. Greifswald's mayor Heinrich Rubenow led the burghers of Greifswald and Stralsund in an attempt to arrest Eric. Although the burghers captured his guards, Eric managed to escape. Yet, by now he was not only opposed by his co-ruling Pomeranian dukes, but also by the Pomeranian cities.
After the death of his father, Wartislaw IX, later in 1457, Eric received Pomerania-Wolgast together with his younger brother, Wartislaw X. They split the duchy with Wartislaw X receiving the principality of RĂĽgen (with RĂĽgen, Barth, Tribsees and Grimmen) while Eric received the eastern parts. Upon Eric I's death, in 1459 Eric II gained Pomerania-Stolp and Pomerania-RĂĽgenwalde due to the claims of his wife. Despite being a partitioned duchy in reality, Pomerania was granted to the dukes as one fief to be co-ruled (zur gesamten Hand, which meant that several issues had to be acted upon in common). Because Eric did not respect Wartislaw X's rights as a co-ruler, Wartislaw sought for an alliance with the Margraviate of Brandenburg on September 6, 1459, in AngermĂĽnde. He pawned the area north of the Brandenburgian Uckermark to Hohenzollern margrave Frederick II and in return became assured of military protection against his brother.
"Eric's wife, feeling not to be admitted to exercise power as she felt she deserved being the heir of Eric I, retreated to RĂĽgenwalde castle to live there with Hans of Wassow.
"In 1464, Eric's cousin Otto III of Pomerania-Stettin died of the Black Death, leaving both Eric and Wartislaw as well as Brandenburg's Frederick II with claims for inheritance. In 1466 Eric II and Wartislaw X were granted liens by the elector of Brandenburg at Soldin. However the contract was not fulfilled and it came to military intervention. Aware that he would not withstand Brandenburg without allies, Eric sought to settle the conflict by allying with Poland and in 1470 invaded the Brandenburg Neumark. The Brandenburgers had their longtime claims to Pomerania re-verified by emperor Frederick III. The emperor ordered Erich II and Wartislaw X to recognize the suzerainty of Brandenburg. Mecklenburgs Duke Henry took a mediator role and the Mecklenburgian army moved eastward following the Tollense River, a Brandenburgian army advanced to the North from the Uckermark following the Randow River. The campaigns were ended by the Peace of Prenzlau of May 31, 1472 and the Pomeranian dukes gave the pledge of allegiance to the elector. Brandenburg was again granted the right of inheritance of Pomerania upon the extinction of the House of Pomerania.
"Eric died in 1474 of a plague-like disease. He was buried in Eldena Abbey near Greifswald and was succeeded by his son Bogislaw X."

"The Ellsworth American [Ellsworth, Maine], 14 November 2022": "Milbridge - Madelyn Dorothy Strout Phinney passed away with family by her side on Oct. 19, 2022. Shortly after her passing, a brilliant double rainbow overhead gave solace and comfort to family and let us know she was reunited with Charlie, the love of her life.
'For it matters not, how much we own, the cars...the house...the cash. What matters is how we live and love, and how we spend our dash.' Madelyn Phinney not only lived her dash to the fullest, but she also spread her spirit to everyone who knew her. She should be as 'proud of the things they say about how she lived her dash' as her family and friends are. Madelyn Strout was born August 2, 1928. She grew up in Milbridge, the daughter of John Ezra Strout and Estella Strout (Ray). She married the love of her life Charles (Charlie) Phinney on New Year's Eve 1946 and were married for a wonderful 74 years. They were partners and soulmates for life. Madelyn helped support her family with her hard work in the shoe shop, as a supportive Mom and wife moving around the state as Charlie worked for Bridge Construction, and as Charlie's partner operating Phinney's Exxon for 20 years. The impact that Madelyn had on her family and community cannot truly be put into words. Her commitment was unwavering. Both her and Charlie were respected members of their community. Her love for Eastern Star was something she held very dear, as were the people she met there. She enjoyed traveling to events around the state with Charlie and their friends, and she never missed a chance to fill in an office when she did.
She and Charlie were both heavily involved with the Milbridge Merchant's Association and the Milbridge Alumni Association. Madelyn was a member of the Milbridge/Wyman United Methodist Church for many years and that was an important part of her life. Family was her life and she devoted her time and energy into that every day, making them a priority. Even after retirement, she wanted to stay active and busy. They found happiness during the winter months in the warm temperatures of Florida. It was difficult being away from family, but their time at the Rainbow Village was priceless to them. Madelyn was predeceased by her husband, Charlie, their son, Woodrow Phinney and wife, Bette, of Norridgewock; and her brother, Woodrow Strout and wife, Min. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Willey and her husband, Wayne, of Milbridge; grandchildren, Charemon Davis and husband, Rick, of Cherryfield, Scott Phinney of Bowie, MD, Wanese Lynch and husband, Chuck, of Ellsworth, Bob Phinney of Clinton MD, and Travis Willey and his wife, Nicole, of Milbridge. She had eight great-grandchildren, Austin Ronco and his fiancée Kate Dickens, Abby Lynch, Logan Staples, Cole Willey, Madelyn Willey, Aaron Lynch, Sophia Lynch and Charles Willey; plus many nieces and nephews."
