[52408] Walter served as a Pvt. in the U. S. Army engineers during World War II. He is son of Gardner H. Corey (b. in 1894) & Bertha Almeda Moody (b. in 1886). "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 13 January 1967, p. 20: "Searsport - Walter R. Corey, 49, died Thursday in an apparent farm accident. He was born in Searsport Oct. 17, 1917, the son of Gardiner and Meda (Moody) Corey. Corey was a veteran of World War II. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Wannetta Colcord, Stockton Springs; three sons, Robert of Stockton Springs, Allen of Belfast and Roger of Monroe; two half-brothers, Vernon Grant of Searsport and Milford Grant of Torrington, Conn.; a sister, Mrs. Lyle Littlefield of Belfast; seven grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousin.s Funeral services will be held at Young's Funeral Home, Searsport, Sunday at 2 p.m. with Richard Wyanski, pastor of the First Congregational Church, officiating. Entombment will be in the Elmwood Cemetery."

Hess, aged 69 years, 10 months and 21 days, died at his farm at Stony Point, Monday afternoon, of a heart condition, following a period of ill health. He was a son of William and Mary Ann Boyd Hess and lived his entire life in the vicinity in which he died. He was a member of the Stony Point Evangelical church. Survving him are his wife, Mrs. Ida Hollenbaugh Hess, a son, Clarence, at home and four brothers and sisters: David Hess, Sandy Point; Reuben Hess of Sandy Hill; Mrs. Ellen Mumper of Bainbridge, Lancasier county, and Mrs. Mary Boston, of Marietta. Brief funeral services will be held at the residence, Thursday at 10 a. m., with further service in the Stony Point church at 10.30 a. m., and burial will be in the cemetery adjoining the church."
