She was born April 25, 1933 in Belfast, Maine, the daughter of Roland Bragdon Sr. and Thelma (Sambrook) Leimers. She belonged to the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Belfast, the American Legion in Belfast and Eastern Star. Caroline loved to knit and crochet. She was predeceased by both her parents and her husband, Melvin Cook; her son Preston Cook and daughter Connie Cook Colby; her brother Roland 'Sonny' Bragdon and sister Sylvia Thompson. Caroline is survived by her children Maryann Everett, Terry Cook, Linda Cook, and Patrick Cook; step-sons, Melvin Cook and Steven Pelletier; her siblings Rosemary Green; half-sister Janie Doolan; Joyce Bartlett and half-brother Steven Bragdon; as well as several grandkids, great-grandkids and great-great-grandkids, a very special aunt, Velma Ward."

[46593] "Tampa Bay Times [St. Petersburg, FL], 3 April 1971," p. 24: "Sarasota - Emory Norwood Dunn, 86, former manager of Gasparilla Inn, and cottages in Boca Grande, died Thursday (April 1, 1971). Mr. Dunn who lived at 1900 Ben Franklin Drive, Sarasota, was a native of Maine and a winter resident here for 40 years. He was the manager of the Gasparilla Inn for 24 years. The inn is located at Boca Grande on an island offshore from Punta Gorda. It was tarpon fishing that led to many notables being housed at the famous Gasparilla Inn. Survivors include his wife, Beth, a son, Richard E., Sarasota, and two grandchildren."

Gallaway, 77, of Battle Creek, died Friday, March 29, 1996, in Battle Creek Health System after a nine-month illness. He was born March 22, 1919, in Branch County to James A and Etta E. (Monn) Gallaway and moved to the area in 1938 from Ray, Glenn R. Gallaway Ind. He was employed by Kraft General Foods as a supervisor for 30 years, retiring in 1979. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II with the 99th Infantry Division. He married Margaret L Taylor in 1943 in Summit, Miss. She survives. Also surviving are a son, Kenneth R. Gallaway of Battle Creek; daughters, Mary Jane Gallaway and Joanne Hayes of Battle Creek and Kathleen D. Lefler of Livonia; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and sisters, Pauline Whitmore of Battle Creek and Evelyn Reppert of Quincy. Preceding him in death were four brothers and four sisters. Community involvement, hobbies: Member of Sonoma United Methodist Church, Post 25-Year Club and American Legion Post 1 56 in Montgomery. Enjoyed gardening, yard work, fishing and hunting."

[60267] Eleanor's obituary: "Old Town - Eleanor Louise Perkins, 85, passed away on August 2, 2025. She was born in Orono on October 15,1939 to Arlene (Doughty) & Howard Goodrich. She graduated from Orono High School in 1959 and married Harry C Perkins in the Orono Methodist Church on June 23, 1962. She moved to Old Town and became an active member of the Stillwater Federated Church. Eleanor sang in the choir, attended bible study, helped at bean suppers and was involved in everything happening at the church for over 50 years. She is survived by her three daughters, Farleen Smith and her husband Deane, Valerie Kennedy and her husband Bryant and Miranda Pierson. Grandchildren: Joshua Moore, Jessica Werner and her husband Peter, Zachary La Fave, Nathan La Fave and his wife Joei, Noah Pierson and Johnny Pierson. She had several lifelong friends: Pat & Royal Henderson, Fran Mishou and Louise Depew. Eleanor is predeceased by her husband Harry C Perkins on March 15, 2021, and grandson Tylar C Michaud on July 21, 2023. She was an active member of Old Town Grange, Old Town Seniors, Veazie Seniors, AARP, Lincoln Tops, and The Hampden Seniors. Eleanor loved deeply and valued family and friends more than anything else."

Philip was the son of Peter Pontius (b.1802) and Elizabeth Rose (b.1802 PA) who married on 15 Nov. 1825 in Stark Co., Ohio. Elizabeth's surname appears as "Rose", "Roser", or "Roos" depending on which document is being read, but the marriage record has "Rose".
Phillip married Margret Grube on 20 Dec. 1849 in Summit Co., Ohio. Margret was the daughter of Peter Grube and Anna (Nancy) Landis. Margret's maiden name has been transcribed as "Gornly", "Buby", and "Condon" on various indexes and consequently appears as such on several Gedcoms. The marriage record image and various other documents support the fact that her name was Grube.
Philip's father died December 29, 1840 in Summit County, Ohio. The 1850 census for Summit County shows Phillip's mother, Elizabeth, was living with him and his wife of one year, Margret. Jonathan Pontius (b.1834 OH) and Elizabeth Pontius (b.1836 OH), Philip's younger siblings, were also living with them. They would be the namesakes for two of Philip's and Margret's children. Philip was farming for a living.
Philip and Margret welcomed their first child, a daughter they named Anna G. in 1851. A second daughter arrived on 4 Dec. 1852 that they named Leah G. Reportedly, they also had a son in 1855 that they named Jonathon, who died in 1857. I could not find him on Find-A-Grave in either Ohio or Indiana.
Sometime between 1852 and 1859, Philip and Margret moved the family to Indiana, where four more children joined the family--Elizabeth P. (1859 IN - 1888), Philip G. (1862 IN - 1940), Henry S. (1865 IN), and Margaret S. (1868-1964). They can be found on the 1860 Census, living in West Twp. (today part of Plymouth), Marshall Co., Indiana, where Philip continued to farm. In addition to his own family, 31-year-old Jacob Riley and his 9-year-old daughter Martha Riley were living with the family. There was also a young man named Peter Grover, aged 20, living with the family who was probably helping with the farm.
During the Civil War, Philip served with Co. I, 151 Indiana Infantry. He mustered in on 11 Feb. 1865 and out on 19 Sep. that same year.
On 4 Oct. 1868, Philip's daughter Anna married Joseph Wesley Hittle (1849-1883) in Marshall Co., followed soon after by daughter Leah G. who married Phillip Rader Stayton on 22 Aug. 1869.
Phillip and Margret are found on the 1870 Census living in Green Twp. (today the Argos area), Marshall Co. In 1879, Margret filed for "invalid" benefits on Philip's behalf.
Philip's and Margret's daughter Elizabeth married George W. Smith on 4 May 1875 in Marshall Co. and they had at least four children together--Jonas H. (b.1877), Mary Alice (b.1879), Lilly May (b./d.1885) and Amon P. (b.1886). Elizabeth died on 19 Jan. 1888 at age 29. I found a marriage record for a George W. Smith the following year to Lavina Kreighbaum but without that 1890 Census to see if George's children with Elizabeth were with them, I cannot confirm this was the same George W. Smith, although it seems plausible.
In the winter of 1891, Margret filed for a widow's pension, as Philip had died six months earlier in June at age 65.
Philip Jr. would eventually marry Mary Carpenter on 29 Dec. 1882; and upon Mary's death, he married Mariam (Mosher) Walker 19 Jul. 1903. Henry S. would marry Martha M. Carpenter on 21 Dec. 1883. And Margaret S. married Anthony A. Smith, the younger brother of sister Elizabeth's husband George, with whom she had five children--Carrie C. (b.1886), Nora A. (b.1890), Lester I. (b.1893), Owen E. (b.1896), and Mabel G. (b.1898).
