He was born in Uniontown and lived most of his life in Mogadore, where he was a member of the Mogadore Christian Church. He had been a farmer until 1950 and retired from Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home. Preceded in death by brothers, Dayton and Paul, he is survived by his beloved wife, Ruth, of 54 years; son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Marilyn; daughter, Karen Mann; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Larry Marmaduke, all of Mogadore; grandchildren, Brook (Paula), Tom and Julie Briner, Tony and Ozzie Mann, Erik and Alesha Marmaduke; great-grandson, Douglas Briner; special sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Evon and Eli Drawkulich; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. . . . Burial at Greenlawn Cemetery in Uniontown. '

He was a self employed lobster fisherman for most of his life. He enjoyed clamming and working on the water. If he wasn't working, you could find him camping, going to the local dances, and fishing in his aluminum boat on the local lakes and ponds downeast. He served his town as a selectman and on the school board for many years, a past master of Pleiades Lodge in Milbridge and a noble in the Anah Shrine. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Norma (Smith) Sargent; his daughter, Amy Dacey and husband, Steve, of North Carolina; his son, Dennis W. Sargent Jr. and wife, Tammy, of Steuben; his grandchildren, Dennis W Sargent III and wife, Mindy, Shasta Sargent and companion, Zak, and Gabe Therrien; three great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and his sisters, Narda Coombs and husband, Billy, Jane Workman and husband, Norman, and Kim Rice and husband, Ernie. He was predeceased by his grandson, Braden Therrier; and niece, Janet (Rice) Dorr."
