[12372] Harley registered for the draft in 1917 in New York City, New York stating he was single, a salesman for John David at Broadway and 32nd st. The Akron Beacon Journal, 14 Nov 1938, p. 1: Harley H. Aber, 42, cashier of the W. E. Wright Co., plunged to his death in the waters of the Cuyahoga river Sunday afternoon when his car crashed through a guard rail at the lower Gorge bridge on Cuyahoga Falls av. The automobile splintered its way through the guard rail, plummeted down about 30 feet, landed on a concrete abutment of the bridge about 20 feet above the water level and then bounced about 50 feet out into the river. Aber, injured and trapped in the car, was drowned. He was en route to his home at 951 N. Howard st. when the fatal accident occurred. Police believe he lost control of his car as he hit the brick pavement near the north approach to the bridge. The brick was still wet from the morning's rain and witnesses said the car weaved for several feet before hitting the rail, as if it were out of the driver's control. . . .
