[41510] "The Daily Item [Sunbury, Pennsylvania], 9 March 1953," p. 10: "Jeremiah Geist Snyder, 80, of 106 North Market street, retired mortician and businessman, died suddenly Saturday at 10 p. m. In a hotel in St. Petersburg, Fla., where he had been vacationing several weeks. Death was due to a heart attack. Mr. Snyder was born in Pillow, October 15, 1872, the son of Daniel and Catherine Geist Snyder. He married Daisy Elizabeth Snyder, who preceded him in death. For many years Mr. Snyder was a mortician and businessman in Port Trevorton. He operated a general merchandise store there and after his retirementin 1944 moved to Selinsgrove. He was a member of Olive Evangelical United Brethren church. Port Trevorton. He was always an active church worker and served as superintendent of the Sunday School of Olive church for a number of years. He was a member of Selinsgrove Lodge 194, F. & A. M.; Har risburg Consistory, and Dauntless Hook and Ladder Fire Comapny, Selinsgrove. He is survived by four daughters. Mrs, John A. Troutman, Selinsgrove; Miss Helena Snyder, of Philadelphia: Mrs. Robert Shadle, of Selinsgrove, and Mrs. Pauline Bradford, of Harrisburg; two sons, Warren J. Snyder, of Harrisburg, and Darnel B. Snyder, of Bethlehem; a brother, Eugene Snyder, of Akron, O.; a sister, Mrs. Arthur Heiser, of Cleveland, O.; four grandchildren and one great grandchild. A son, Carl Snyder, preceded him in death in 1949."
