"Harrisburg Telegraph, 30 January 1904," p. 9: "After a six weeks' illness of grip, Josiah Daron, aged 63 years, a huckster of Sterrett's Gap, Cumberland county, died last night at the home of his son, Addison Daron, S15 South Front street. Mr. Daron was a faithful attendant of the Broad Street Market for seventeen years, and it was while on his way to market about six weeks ago that he was stricken with his fatal illness. He is survived by a wife and two children: Addison, of this city, and Mrs. C. Brenizer, of New Kingston. Mrs. Caroline Garman, of Mechanicsburg, a sister, and B. E., of Sterrett's Gap; W. W., of Carlisle, and John, Daniel and Samuel, of Kansas, brothers, also survive him. Mr. Daron was a veteran of the Civil War, serving from '62 to '63, and was a member of Post 58, G. A. R., of this city, his company being the 84th Pennsylvania Infantry."

She was born Aug. 23, 1926, in Waltham, the second child of W. Elliott and Marguerite (Bunker) Jordan. She was raised by her uncle and aunt, Richard and Madalyn (Jordan) Howell. She lived in Sangerville, Stonington, Eastport, Belgrade, Augusta, Hampden and Waltham. After high school she attended business college in Portland, worked for the state mental hospital in Augusta, the FBI in Washington, D.C., joined the Navy and was stationed in Hawaii. In 1957 she graduated from Husson College and later became an associate professor there. She was the girl's basketball manager for three years and belonged to Epsilon Tau Epsilon. She also taught at Hampden Academy. After retirement she received the Service Award from Husson College in 1988. She was a member of the Altrusa Club, Bangor; Irene Chapter No. 97 of Order of Eastern Star, Ellsworth; and Union Congregational Church, Ellsworth Falls. She returned to the family homestead in Waltham after her retirement and spent many enjoyable summers at her camp on Beech Hill Pond in Otis. She is survived by brothers, Thomas Jordan Sr. and his wife, Sandra, of Waltham, Philip Jordan and his wife, Joan, of Frankfort, Marshall Jordan and his wife, Patsy, of Waltham, and Dale Jordan and his significant other, Jean Crockett, of Eastbook and Ellsworth; sister, Gloria Johnson and her significant other, Ron Gregory, of Why, Ariz.; brother-in-law, Edward Flynn of Rumford Center; sisters-in-law, Lucille Jordan of Waltham, and Carol Jordan, her faithful care overseer, of Eastbrook and Ellsworth; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents; and siblings, Pauline Wilcox, Harvey H. Jordan, Ernestine Flynn, Russell Jordan and James Jordan. Interment will be at Locust Grove Cemetery, Hampden."
