Is he the "Baptist Hicks [who] created the titles Viscount Campden and Lord Hicks of Ilmington" and d. 18 Oct 1629 at St. Lawrence, Old Jewry, London with no sons, his titles then passing through his daughter Julian? This Sir Baptist Hicks was a member of the Company which sponsored the settlement of Jamestown, VA.
BetFoster1@Aol.com sent via email in June, 2003: "Baptist Hicks of Chipping Campden, born 1551, died 1629; his father was another Robert Hicks, born 1518 and mother was Julia Arthur, born 1520. Baptist had 5 brothers and only 1 lived until 1612. Baptist's grandfather was John Hicks, born 1477 and his grandmother was Joan Darnley. His great grandfather was John Hicks, born 1455 and his great grandmother was Joan Damer born 1459. Baptist Hicks bought the Chipping Campden property in 1624 from Sir Thomas Smythe (who was also listed as a Treasurer at Jamestown) but he was not born or brought up in that town. He died in 1629 and left his property to daughter Julian. However, we are descended from both and I shall let you figure it all out. We certainly must at least be descended to John Hicks and Joan Damer." 23 Sept 2003 she offered via email: "last week I read the following in 'Virtual Jamestowne' on the computer. At the end of a very long article, it ended with this: "The Virginia Co. was dissolved by the Crown, and in 1624 James I issued a new commission to the "Merchant Party" and the "Rich faction", of which 41 members, including Sir Baptist Hicks, Sir James Campbell, and Sir Ralph Freeman, plus ten Commissioners who were the leading officers in the Government of James I. But James I soon died and the commission was abrogated and Charles I never reestablished it". Also, I have found out that John Hicks (b. 1455) and wife Joan Damer (b. 1459), had three children: John Hicks (b. 1477); Richard Hicks (b. 1480); and Thomas Hicks (b. 1487). So, John Hicks was the grandfather of Baptist Hicks who was in Jamestown; and Thomas Hicks was the grandfather of my Robert Hicks." [AEM: I have included Baptist Hicks twice in this database pending sorting out of the ancestry.]
[7791] Mary is daughter of Andrew Cramer Hollenbaugh and Sarah Bistline.

[49160] The unverified file LCTN-5MP in familysearch.org offers: "George Michael Leiby was the son of Frederick Leiby & Maria Mettline. The date of birth shown above is his baptismal date. He was born at Steinsfurt in the Palatinate region of what is now Germany. He came with his parents to this country in 1733 on the ship 'Samuel.' He married Barbara; her maiden name may have been Kalbach, although some researchers suggest Schollenberger. George Michael & Barbara lived in Greenwich Twp., Berks Co. George Michael & Barbara had at least seven children: Barbara (Yerian); John George; Maria Magdalena (Werle); Peter; Maria Elizabeth (Krobach); Frederick; & John. They may also have had a son named Andrew. After Barbara's death, George Michael married Dorothea. He died in Greenwich Twp., Berks Co., PA. His will was probated 25 Jan 1808, suggesting he died in late 1807 or January 1808."

[41681] The unverified Laird Family Tree in 2016 in Ancestry.com offers: "Thomas Norton was born on September 15, 1609, in Streatley, Bedfordshire. He married Grace Wells on May 5, 1631, in Shelton, Bedfordshire. They had seven [known] children during their marriage. He died on May 16, 1648, in Guilford, Connecticut, at the age of 38. Grace Wells was born in 1611 in Shelton, Bedfordshire . . . . She died on August 7, 1648, in Guilford, Connecticut, at the age of 37." A posting by Darlene C. Joyce, CGRS, 13 Jan 2005 seen at http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/NORTON offers: " Thomas Norton of Guilford was. . . likely the son of Robert Norton, and was baptised on 10 Oct. 1608. There is general agreement that Thomas Norton married Grace Wells 5 May 1631, at Shelton, County of Bedford, England, and that they arrived in Guilford CT about 1639." Ms. Joyce also states: "See TAG Vol. 54, pp. 179-180, July 1978. "English Origins of Thomas and Grace Norton of Guilford, CT, by Douglas Richardson. [See also TAG Vol. 15, p. 203, below; and "Blaydes' Genealogia Bedfordiensis, published 1890.]" Cf. Find A Grave Memorial 162059588. Ancestry.com offers: "Norton Name Meaning - English: habitational name from any of the many places so called, from Old English norð 'north' + tun 'enclosure', 'settlement'. In some cases, it is a variant of Norrington. Irish: altered form of Naughton, assimilated to the English name."
