[13972] "Lykens Register [Lykens, PA], 28 January 1944, p. 1: "Mr. Homer G. Deibler, 56, prominent in church activities, passed away at his home, 452 North Second street, Sunday afternoon after being ill the past year from complications. Mr. Deibler was born in Berrysburg and was the son of the late James and Kate Metz Deibler. He spent most of his life in Lykens. Mr. Deibler was an active worker in the United Brethren Church and Sunday School for many years. He possessed a very fine bass voice and was director of the church choir for more than 25 years. He succeeded Mr. William Kratzer as director in 1914. He expressed the opinion that music was closely linked with religion and devoted much time, sacrifice and patience to render such service. He served as Church trustee for the church and parsonage and was the Secretary-Treasurer in the Sunday School and a member of the Official Board over a period of years. He was also a member of the church orchestra and band organized in 1910. He was active in all church work until illness prevented him from attending the services. Mr. Deibler was married to Miss Laura Geist, of Williamstown, who survives him with six daughters: Mae, (Mrs. Harry Rupert), of Penbrook; Miss Olga Deibler, at home; Melba, (Mrs. Donald Thomas) at home; Ruth, (Mrs. Harry Sweigard), Penbrook; Betty, (Mrs. Gordon Robison), Boyertown; Miss Laura Deibler, at home, and four grandchildren; one sister, Sadie, (Mrs. John Clark), of Delanco, N. J.; two brothers, Allen Deibler, of Bethlehem, and Robert Deibler, of Bloomsburg. Funeral services were held on Thursday afternoon from the residence with the Rev. H. S. Kieffer, of Elizabethville, and the Rev. Charles P. Walz, of the United Brethren church, officiating. Burial was made in the Wiconisco Cemetery."
[8423] Shirley is daughter of Lee Wellington Dewey (1897-1965) & Helen J. Ely (1907-1980).
