[1491] "Debrett's Kings and Queens of Britain" by David Williamson (Salem House Pub., 1986) says, "....he [Charles the Bald] gave her [Judith] in marriage to Ethelwulf, the wedding being solemnized at Verberie-sur-Oise on 1 October 856. Ethelwulf returned home in 'good health' and died over a year later on 13 January 858. He was buried first at Steyning in Sussex, but was later removed to Winchester." In 2005 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Judith_Martel offers: "Judith was born probably in October of 844, the daughter of Charles the Bald, king of the Franks, and Ermentrude. She was forced by her father to marry Æthelwulf, King of Wessex on October 1, 856 at Verberie sur Oise, France; when he was 51, and she was 12. After Æthelwulf's death on January 13, 858, she was married to his son, Æethelbald, sometime after February 858. Æethelbald was 24 and she was then 13. Before Æethelbald's death, the marriage was annulled (in 860), and she was confined at Senlis. She eloped with Baldwin I, Count of Flanders, in January 862. He was 23, she was 18. They were probably married at the monastery of Senlis before they eloped. They hid until October, when they went to her uncle Lothair for protection. From there they fled to Pope Nicholas I for protection. They were then officially married at Auxerre. They had a son, Baldwin II, Count of Flanders, born in 864. Oddly enough, he was also called the Bald." http://www.friesian.com/flanders.htm reports her love life this way: "The County of Flanders begins with a bit of romance. Judith, daughter of the Emperor Charles the Bald, was married off twice to English Kings; but she returned and eloped with Baldwin Iron Arm. Charles disapproved, but Judith could not be induced to forsake him. So Charles relented and granted Flanders to the two of them. At first a 'march county' (Margravate), Flanders soon reverted to a simple county." Cf. http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Judith_de_France.
