[60849] Helen's obituary: "Rockland, Maine - Helen J. Lewis, 86, was called home to her Heavenly Father on November 23, 2024, after a brief illness. She was born February 10, 1938, in Dover-Foxcroft, the daughter of Charles S. and Helen S. (Hanscom) Clark. In her 86 years, Helen was first and foremost, a child of God. Her faith was evident from a very young age, and she led her life called according to His purpose. She has been a part of many church congregations over the years, most recently of First Baptist Church of St. George. Wherever she was, Helen would find someone to talk to or shed make a new friend. She seemed to know everyone; trips to the grocery store were usually measured in hours! She was kind and generous, and our own example of what it meant to be a Proverbial woman. Helen was a class act in every sense - she embodied elegance, grace, and character in her demeanor and interactions. She treated everyone with kindness and respect, regardless of their status or background. On the outside, Helen took pride in her appearance and was always so well put together. On the inside, she was just as well put together. She had a calming presence; you could tell her anything and she could always see the good in everyone. She had a natural gift of uplifting those around her. Despite the fact her last several years with plagued with health challenges, her attitude and outlook were positive to the very end. She faced all of life's challenging times with her wonderful sense of humor and trust in God. She led a selfless life of volunteerism and taking care of others, often at her own expense. Helen would downplay her accomplishments but she was an LPN, telephone operator, held a top-secret clearance for typing the launch codes (!), a business owner, office Mom at Norlens Water Treatment and most recently, a shop Mom at Superior Restoration. She was a Domestic Engineer of the highest order (a position she held for 67 years!), Prayer Warrior, Rescuer of all Plants, 11th Hour Baker, and Bingo Champion. Helen said she always wanted to be a mother; she loved her family with all of her being and was fiercely protective of them. Helen was a beloved Daughter, Sister, Wife x 3, Auntie, Mother, Grammy, Great Grammy, Confidant, and Friend. Helen has left her mark on all who knew her and will be sorely missed. Helen is survived by her brother, Stanley Clark, of Corinth; sister, Carol Hammond and her husband, William of Vernon, Vermont; son, James Hancock and his wife, Laurie, of Eddington; daughter, Jolean Wilcox and her husband, Michael, of Cushing; daughter, Victoria McKenna, of Peabody, Massachusetts; daughter, Nicole Larrabee and her husband, Murray, of Cushing; grandchildren, James, Meghan, Amanda, Joseph, Jennifer, Erin, Andrew, William, Jade, Brendan; three granddogs; several great-grandchildren, and many beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Helen was predeceased by beloved siblings, Ella Clark, Shirley Fowles, David Clark, Joan Clark and Edna Smart. She was also predeceased by 3 wonderful husbands, James Hancock, Normand Gogan and Calvin Lewis."

He also shows a second marriage for William - 5 Dec 1657 in Boston, MA to Elizabeth Crowell Perry Gillett (b. ca. 1618). He shows William as a son of John Wardwell (b. ca. 1562 in Well, Lincolnshire) and Margaret Marshall (b. ca. 1570). Chase may be confusing this William with the other William who is in my database as b. 1607.
