[60210] "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 15 July 2023: "Lincoln, Maine - Sheila Doreen Leighton passed away on July 13, 2023. Sheila was born in Dexter, ME, to Leslie and Gladys Johnson. She grew up in Lincoln, ME, graduating from Mattanawcook Academy in 1957. After a brief marriage just out of HS, Sheila married Roger Leighton (1960-1987). During their marriage, they Lived in Laredo, TX; Fort Fairfield, ME; Lincoln, ME; and Houlton, ME. At the time of her divorce, Sheila returned to Lincoln, ME. Sheila could, and would, strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere. She loved to explore new places. Her sense of adventure was paired with a horrible sense of direction, which always seemed to lead to unique and humorous experiences (though maybe not so funny at the time). Sheila loved to go roller skating and dancing - and it was dancing where she met her love and life partner, Arvid Good. Sheila and Arvid enjoyed over 30 years together, fishing; camping and touring the Country and enjoying life on the water in Belgrade, ME and finally, Lincoln, ME. Sheila was predeceased by her partner, Arvid Good; her father, Leslie Johnson; mother, Gladys Johnson Cole; stepfather, Robert Cole; infant son, David; and older brother, Vaughn Johnson. She is survived by her three grown children, Leslie Neal of Lincoln, ME, Roger Wayne Leighton II of San Diego, CA, and Elizabeth Watts of Winslow, ME; her beautiful grandchildren, Ryan Robbins, Peter Coggins, Anna Leighton, Shawn Leighton, Ethan Watts and Evan Watts; and 6 great-grandchildren. She also is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, David and Elaine Johnson, and sister-in-law Sharon Johnson."
