He died in 1270. The old seat of the Gawkthorpes, of Gawthorpe, was a residence when Herewode (Harewood) was what its name indicates. Its name is associated with all the interest, glamour, and romance that should pertain to this one time feudal hall. The men of Gawthorpe, who took their name from their seat, were of some renown as soldiers, having fought on the battlefields of France and elsewhere. Eventually, their estate passed to the Gascoignes by marriage of Matilda, daughter and co-heiress (with her sister Alicia, married to John Connall) of John de Gawkthorpe, or Goldthorpe of Gawkethorpe, and granddaughter of Henry de Gauketorp, by . . . his wife, daughter and heiress of . . . Hillum born 1217, to William Gascoigne, in the time of Edward I, and here the family were located for a period of four hundred years. (It has been traditionally rumoured within the Gascoigne Family that this William Gascoigne saved Matilda Gawthorpe from drowning and in view of this action John Gawthorpe offered him the hand of his daughter Matilda in marriage.)"

[53568] "Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," Milo - Diana M. Huckins Bartlett, age 65, died at her home on May 3, 2021. She was born March 11, 1956, in Jonesport, the daughter of Nancy Lee (Young) Harrington and Herbert Huckins, Jr. Diana was a 1974 graduate of Narraguagus High School, and a 1978 graduate of the University of Maine at Machias. She served as Assistant Director of Administrative Services and Assistant to the Campus Dean at the University of Maine at Augusta's Bangor Campus from 1978 to 2015. Diana also served the State of Maine as a Notary Public from 1998 to 2019. Diana loved history. This devotion led her to the field of genealogy. She was a lifetime member of the Milbridge Historical Society and Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW; a member of the General Society of Mayflower Descendants and the Daughters of the American Revolution - Hannah Weston Chapter. In 2003, Diana co-authored Cemetery Inscriptions, Milbridge, Washington County, Maine, with Alice Beal and Beverly Pinkham. In 2010, Diana authored Vital Records of Milbridge, Maine, to the year 1900. She is survived by her mother, Nancy Harrington of Milbridge; her beloved pugs, Molly and Lucy; stepdaughter, Kristine Moody; and stepgranddaughter, Sophie Moody of Portland; stepgranddaughter, Hannah Moody of Spencer, Massachusetts; stepson-in-law, Tim Ward; and stepgrandson, Cameron Ward, both of Glenburn; sisters, Laurie Hall and husband, Bruce, of Milbridge, and Rhonda Morgan and husband, Tex, of Bradford; nieces, Laura Lee Hall and her partner, Chris Kittredge, of Milbridge, Lisa Jazowski and her husband, Bryan, of Bradford, Ashlee Gould and her husband, Timothy, of Dexter; nephew, Bruce Hall Jr. and wife, Eileen, of Cherryfield; great-nephews, William Jennison IV of Bradford, and Camden Kittredge of Milbridge; great-nieces, Aseneth Kittredge of Milbridge, Eleanor and Jolene Hall of Cherryfield. In addition to her father, Diana was predeceased by her husband, Samuel F. Bartlett Jr.; stepson, Marc Bartlett; stepdaughter, Karen Ward; stepfather, George Harrington; and stepbrother, George Harrington Jr.
