[61978] Marcia's obituary: "Old Town, Maine - Marcia Bradeen Gurney passed away peacefully on March 21, 2026, at the age of 75, in her home after a journey through the effects of a stroke and an aggressive cancer. Marcia's life began on January 23, 1951, with her parents, Joanne Gerrish and Warren Bradeen; both deceased. Hers was a life filled with family, love, and joy until the end. She is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, Barak Gurney. She is also survived by her daughter, Joanne (Bond) Adair and son-in-law, (James) Ryan Adair, and their daughters, Alison and Elizabeth Adair; her stepson, Nathan Gurney and daughter-in-law, Laura Gurney, and their daughters, Lillian and Abigail Gurney; and her stepson, Jason Gurney and his daughters, Taylor and Shelby Gurney. All six of her brilliant and beautiful granddaughters were the light of her life. Marcia also leaves behind a large, loving family in Connecticut. Marcia had a loving heart and a tender soul. She gave much of her time, skills and energy volunteering with organizations that value the things she also valued. She spent years at Northeast Combat, helping consumers recognize their rights, and when her daughter wanted to be a Girl Scout, Marcia started a troop. She spent time on the board of Phillips-Strickland House, ensuring that anyone under their care had the chance to live their best lives until the very end. Marcia gave her talents to Manna Ministries for a long time, as she believed in doing right for everyone. For several years Marcia and Barak volunteered with the Special Olympics of Maine, an organization that became near and dear to their hearts. And still, she kept going. Marcia and Barak became active members of the Orono/Old Town Kiwanis club. Her creativity and skills were capitalized upon, as she revelled in the toy barn at the annual Kiwanis yard sale and auction; and then got to lead the organization as president for a year. Marcia seemed happiest by the water. On a weekend she would often say, 'Let's go for a ride.' That ride would invariably lead to "the coast" or Pushaw Lake. Those same rides eventually led to the purchase of a Gurney family camp on Pushaw Lake that has been the site of many family memories, and many more to come. Marcia spread peace and tenderness to the people and places in her life. She instilled that same love and care in everyone she knew, and though she will be missed, that will live on in all who knew her."

[52483] "The Ellsworth American [Ellsworth, Maine]," 21 December 2022: " Ellsworth - Linda E. Bragdon Mason, 72, died unexpectedly Dec. 19, 2022, in Ellsworth. She was born in Ellsworth Sept. 6, 1950, the daughter of Lester E. Bragdon and Rachel E. Bragdon Hutchins. Linda graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1968. After high school she worked waitressing, in retail, and for most of her career in billing and human resources at a local hospital. She enjoyed communicating by CB radio when it was popular, doing ceramics, crocheting and watching Boston sports teams. She loved cooking for family gatherings, especially Thanksgiving and Christmas, always cooking enough for leftovers to go home. We will all miss her Chex mix, peanut butter fudge, deviled eggs and beef stew. The family poker nights will not be the same without her huge smile when winning and sarcastic comments. Linda loved her grandchildren and enjoyed attending birthday parties, school events and graduations. She enjoyed caring for them when they were young. Linda truly loved showering them and family with gifts, usually taking days off after Christmas to start shopping for the next Christmas. Linda is survived by her life partner, Neil McKay; daughter Stephanie Currier and husband, Sean; two sons, Timothy Mason and wife, Tara, and Shawn McKay; brother Wayne Bragdon and two sisters, Mary Wood and husband, Peter, and Judy Tucker; seven grandchildren, Stephanies children, Rachel and Spencer Harris and Colby Currier, Tims children Taylor and Tanner Mason, Shawns children Kelly and Sam McKay as well as six cherished nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Linda was predeceased by close family member Michael DiGangi."

[6962] http://freespace.virgin.net/doug.thompson/BraoseWeb offers: "After the death of Eva's father William (II) de Cantilupe obtained the wardship and marriage of Eva in 1238. By July 1241 he had married her to his son William (III) de Cantilupe. The honour of Abergavenny and half the honour of Totnes enlarged the Cantilupe family holdings. Further lands descended through Eva on the death of her mother, one of the Marshal heiresses to the earldom of Pembroke. William died on 25 Sep 1254, immediately on his return from service in Gascony with the king. He was laid in his grave at Studley Priory, Warwickshire by Simon de Montfort, earl of Leicester and Humphrey de Bohun, earl of Hereford, Eva's brother in law. (William was the older brother of Saint Thomas de Cantilupe, Bishop of Hereford.) Child 1: Joan de Cantilupe (d 1271) = Sir Henry de Hastings (1235-1268). Their son John inherited Abergavenny. Child 2: Milicent de Cantilupe (d 1299) = (1) John de Montalt. (2) Eudo la Zouche (d 1279) Their son William Zouch inherited the Cantilupe base of Eaton Bray in Bedfordshire and Eva's moiety of Totnes. Child 3: George de Cantilupe (died 1273 with no issue)."
