[45450] "Bangor Daily News, 16 August 2019": Bucksport - Gerald Lloyd "Jerry" Leach died unexpectedly on August 13, 2019, at his camp on Spec Pond, doing what he loved, in a place he loved, with a treasured friend at his side. Born during a snowstorm to Lloyd and Lois Leach on December 7, 1957, Jerry lived his whole life on Verona Island and Bucksport. When asked why he didn't care to travel he simply answered "I love Maine." He was a proud "old school" papermaker and worked for 36 years at the Bucksport mill. After retiring, he taught himself to weld and built a machine shop in his garage. Jerry was an avid collector of tools, a skilled carpenter; and if he couldn't fix something, he figured out how. He was smart, witty, curious and always ready to help others. Jerry will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and cousin. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 30 years, Allison; his children: Kasie Laviolette (and husband, Joe), Jessica VanScoy (and husband, Derek), Nicholas Leach, Katie VanScoy, and Kel Leach (with partner, Kelsey); his siblings, brother, Larry (and wife, Jill), brother-in-law, Smokey (and wife, Clara), and sister-in-law, Robyn (and husband, Mike). He also leaves his beloved grandchildren: Rylee, Noah, Chloe, Ada, Jade, and Aiden, as well as nieces, nephews and many dear friends. He will be sadly missed by his much loved beagles, Jack and Molly, and his granddog, Henrietta."
