He married Bertha Ann Piper in 1885. He died on February 22, 1926, in Paradise, Pennsylvania, at the age of 69, and was buried in Amberson, Pennsylvania." "Intelligencer Journal [Lancaster, Pennsylvania], 24 February 1926," p. 16: "Samuel Shoemaker, of Paradise, died Monday night at 10:30 o'clock after a short Illness from heart trouble, aged 69 years. He was a member of the M. E. church, of Amberson, Franklin county and is survived by his wife who was Bertha Piper, of Franklin county, and by the following children: Elizabeth, wife of Martin B.
