[54987] "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 20 October 2023: "Orient - Doris 'Dolly' Leighton Roach went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, in Scarborough, ME. Dolly was born on February 8, 1932, to Wellington and Lorna Neal Gray of Danforth, ME. She is survived by her three children, Mark Leighton of Falmouth, ME, and his spouse, Victoria, and their children, Griffin and Dylan, Timothy Leighton of Norwell, MA, and his spouse, Amy, and their children, Benjamin, Hunter and Phoebe, and Robin Leighton Juris of Cumberland, ME, and her children, Olivia, Natalie and Jillian. Dolly was predeceased by her loving husband, Peter Roach; her beloved children, Jeffrey and Matthew. She is also survived by Jeffrey's children, Stephanie Leighton and Rebecca Leighton Shapiro; and four siblings, Keith Gray, Colin Gray, Wally Gray and Darlene Gray Allen. Dolly cherished her sister, Darlene, and spoke almost every day with her adored cousin, Maxine. Dolly lived her life helping others, a life that reflects Matthew 25:34. She often cared for the needs of others before her own. There was always an extra seat at the dinner table for any unexpected guest and she would make sure that everyone had plenty to eat before serving herself. Her home was always filled with activity and commotion and she loved it that way. Dolly would often return from work or errands and find friends and family already at home as the door was always open. Her kids often talk about how she would load them up in the Cutlass Supreme in October and head out for a couple hours of bird hunting. They would often return home bagging more Partridge than the local sportsmen. Not only did Dolly sport blaze orange all fall, she became an avid fisherman and one year won a fishing derby on East Grand Lake. Above all, Dolly was a fighter. At the age of seventeen, she contracted Tuberculosis and was admitted to the Sanatorium in Presque Isle. Doctors didn't expect her to survive but with the miracle drug, streptomycin and the work of the Lord, she ended her five-year stay. She returned home, graduated high school and became a telephone operator for New England Telephone. She eventually married and raised five children. She went on to live a full life. She shared many stories about growing up during The Depression in rural Maine. One such story was how she was quick to the dinner table with eight siblings vying for the meal. Many friends recalled her gift of letter writing, a long lost art that she continued through her lifetime. She had perfect handwriting and being a recipient of a letter from her was a real treasure. Although it was challenging for her grandchildren to read as they didn't learn the beauty of cursive script. Dolly was a true conversationalist and well informed of world events. She truly loved people and it showed when engaging her in discussion or spending time with her at her home on East Grand Lake, in Orient. Dolly was a loving mother and a treasured friend. She will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her."

[60959] "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 27 November 2025: "Harmony, Maine - Garwood Linden Howell, "Gig," 93, passed away peacefully at home on November 23, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on February 22, 1932, he was the son of Manville R. Howell and Alice M. (House) Howell. Garwood graduated from Harmony High School in 1950. Shortly thereafter, he was drafted and proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. On April 16, 1964, he married the love of his life, Irma L. (Lockard) Howell, in Skowhegan. For nearly 50 years, Garwood worked as the top Little Way Stitcher in many central Maine shoe factories, including SAS, Norwock, and Dexter. His skill and craftsmanship were widely recognized and highly sought after. He later retired, continuing part-time at McDonald Shoe. In all those years, Garwood never missed a single day of work. While maintaining his factory career, he and Irma operated H&H Ceramics in Harmony for almost 40 years. After his retirement, he continued to serve his community for 11 years as cemetery sexton for the Town of Harmony. A dedicated member of American Legion Post 192 in Athens for 71 years, Garwood earned the rank of Commander and proudly held that position for 22 years, as well as serving 28 years as adjutant. He and Irma were familiar faces at the Harmony Free Fair, coordinating and working the Beano Tent and Frog Jumping Contest for more than two decades. His dry wit and infectious giggle endeared him to all who knew him. Garwood cherished life in the outdoors, spending time with his girls - hunting, fishing, smelting, fiddleheading, and berry picking. Gardening was especially important to him as a way of providing food for the winter months. He and Irma created countless memories with family and friends during the summer months at the family camp on Great Moose Pond in Hartland, where cookouts and green beer were staples. A devoted father to six daughters, he involved his girls in nearly every project, teaching them patience, compassion, and humor. Garwood was predeceased by his beloved wife, Irma; his parents; grandson, Bronson Caldwell; son-in-law, Tom Dellarma; sister, Jackie Chadbourne; and brothers, Russell and Delmont. He is survived by his daughters, Kimberly Dellarma, Sonya Howell and her partner, Sheldon Pullen, Renea Qua and her husband, Douglas, Paula MacMillan and her husband, Doug, Diane Paradis and her husband, Michael, and Jill Cookson and her husband, Stacy. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Nicole Quigley (Mike), Bridget Dellarma, Briley Belanger (Natalie), Brandon Belanger (Heather), Paige Howell (Caleb), Rocky Leavitt (Andrea), Ryan, Donavan, Desaray, Eric Paradis, Tyler (Christine), and Garrett Cookson; eleven great-grandchildren; sister, Donna Larson; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family would also like to recognize special friends, Jerome, Ronald, Cindy, and Markie. The family extends heartfelt thanks to his health care providers Helene and Christine, the VA, and Beacon Hospice for their care and support. Burial will take place in the spring at MainStream Cemetery in Harmony . . . "

[1948] There is a fantastic legendary line for Darbforgaill from Noah's son Japhet via Pharaoh Nectanebus of Egypt; this account states that her paternal grandfather is Brien Borom the Great (King of Munster, 1009-39, and Monarch of Ireland, 1027-39) who routed and expelled the Danes from Ireland. {Carr P. [39253] George m. Louisa Richardson (b. 6 Aug 1825 at Aurora, d. 4 April 1911). "He was the acknowledged leader of the religious life of the community, and for many years was the Deacon of the little church." - Gleason L. Archer, "Ancestors and Descendants of Joshua Williams," p. 40. The 2 July 1860 census of Great Pond, ME lists his household: George Williams (36, farmer), Louiza [sic] (34), Harriet A. (10), George (8), Tilden (6), Arthur (5), Nelson (3), Eva (8 months) and Charles E. (12, listed last as if not a child of George). The unverified Merrill Family Tree in Ancestry.com in 2016 offers: "When Louisa Richardson was born on August 6, 1825, in Aurora, Maine, her father, Samuel, was 25 and her mother, Betsey, was 24. She married George Frank Williams on February 26, 1843, in her hometown. They had 12 children in 28 years.
