He was appointed postmaster there March 17, 1908 until Nov. 17, 1911. After his store burned in 1931 he moved it to Erly, Saville Twp., Perry Co., where he served as tax collector. He was appointed associate judge of the county in the 1940s. He was a member of Lebanon Reformed Church, Loysville, and r. at his death at R. D. Elliottsburg, PA. The Perry County Times, 13 August 1953, p. 2: Elliottsburg, Aug. 12. George Roy Lightner, 70, Associate Judge of Perry County, died Friday, August 7, at the Carlisle Hospital. He was a resident of Elliottsburg, R. D. and was a member of the Loysville Reformed Church, of the Maccabees and of the Moose Lodge of Millerstown. The deceased is survived by his wife, Mrs. Tracie Hull Lightner; two sons, Albert A. Lightner, Elliottsburg, R. D., and Donald E. Lightner, Elliottsburg R. D., a daughter, Mrs. James L. Kennedy, of Williamsport ; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
