He was a member of the Camp Hill United Methodist Church and a former Sunday school teacher and superintendent. He was a member of Mackinaw Lodge 380 IOOF, New Bloomfield, and a former board member of the Susquenita School District. He was a 1932 graduate of New Bloomfield High School. Surviving are his wife, Leola Florence Sheibley; one son, Robert L. of Florida; three daughters, Fay N. Brown of Etters, Shirley M. Rife of Dauphin and Carol A. Grunden of Hershey; two brothers, Herbert of Newport and Donald of New Bloomfield; ten grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren."
