[56831] "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 14 August 2024: "Dover-Foxcroft - Ruby Maxine Day, RN, daughter, sister, nurse, missionary, aunt and friend, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2024, at the age of 91, in Bridgton, Maine. She was born October 30, 1932, the daughter of the late Roscoe F. and Mabel M. (Coffin) Day. Ruby was a 1950 graduate of Presque Isle High School. After high school, Ruby attended Providence Bible Institute, where she completed their Missionary Course and graduated in 1953. She then continued her education at New England Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in Boston, Massachusetts. She earned her nursing degree in 1957 and became a Registered Nurse. Ruby also graduated from Frontier Graduate School of Midwifery in Hyden, Kentucky, in 1959. Once she completed her education, Ruby embarked on her missionary journey. Her fierce independence, unwavering faith and commitment to helping others led her to Nigeria and Niger through the Sudan Interior Mission (SIM), where she devotedly served numerous local communities as a medical missionary from 1964-1975. After returning from Africa, she continued her career in nursing, working in various hospitals throughout New England until her retirement. Ruby's love for gardening and photography brought her immense joy and peace. She often found solace and inspiration in tending to her garden and capturing the beauty of God's creation through her camera lens. She delighted in traveling and experiencing new places and various cultures. These hobbies provided her with a unique perspective on life, and she shared the beauty she saw in the world with others through her stories and writings. Besides her parents, Ruby was predeceased by an infant brother, Roscoe; brother, Robert Day and his wife, Mary; sister, Marcia Muldowney and her husband, Tom; sister, Leila Day; sister-in-law, Eileen Day; and brother-in-law, Chester Gage. She is survived by a brother, Clayton Day of Middlefield, CT; a sister, Charlene Gage of Caribou, ME; and several nieces and nephews."

[47917] Find A Grave memorial 193702212 offers Marilyn's obituary: "Marilyn Ruth Tapley, devoted wife and mother, passed away on June 23, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. Marilyn brought her light into this world on May 4, 1932. She was born to Melvin A. Wardwell, Jr. and Adelene Hutchins Wardwell in Penobscot, Maine. Marilyn attended Penobscot schools and graduated from Clark High School in 1949. Soon after, in 1950, she married Robert J. Tapley. They spent their life together in the home they built on Pension Hill where they raised their three children, Sylvia, Robert, and Joseph. Marilyn took great pride in her home, making it into a safe haven for her children and grandchildren. After the children began school, she worked outside the home. Her last job was at the local market where she worked for 25 years, retiring at the age of 80. While there, she made many long-lasting friendships with her sense of humor and infectious smile. In the 1970s and 1980s, she and Robert traveled to many parts of the USA and Canada, but her favorite places were here in the state of Maine. She especially loved their annual snowmobiling vacations to Rangeley, Maine, and their annual camping vacations on the East Branch of the Penobscot River at the foot of Mt. Katahdin. She loved all animals, her domestic pets, especially her grand-dog, Maggie May, and welcomed the wild birds and animals that visited her back door. Marilyn is survived by her teenage sweetheart and husband of 68 years, Robert Tapley of Penobscot; her daughter, Sylvia Tapley and her wife, Becky Tapley, of Penobscot; her son, Robert Tapley and his former wife, Kate Tapley, of Blue Hill; her son, Joseph Tapley and his fiancée, Kristen Greer, of Falmouth; her grandchildren, Anna Tapley and her partner, Mo Sheehan, Noah Tapley and his wife, Sarah Tapley, Nolan Tapley, Mitchell Tapley, and Olivia Tapley, as well as her great-grandchildren, Finley and Weston. Marilyn will be greatly missed by her sister-in-law, Marjorie Wardwell, special namesake niece, Tammy Wardwell, her three nephews, David, Peter, and Toby Wardwell, of Penobscot, her dear cousin, Pat Flannery and husband, Kenneth, of Stockton Springs, and her longtime friends and 'like' family, Glenn and Judy Findlay of Bucksport, as well as her special friend and neighbor, Donna Rankin of Penobscot. She was predeceased by her parents, Melvin A. Wardwell, Jr. and Adelene Hutchins Wardwell, her step-father, Albert Grindle, and a brother, Millard Wardwell. Marilyn was an Eastern Star Lifetime Member, a member of the Penobscot Historical Society, and a member of the Penobscot United Methodist Church. She was also one of the Green Granite Girls. She loved music from the 1940s and 1950s, plus songs from Broadway shows. She enjoyed family celebrations where the table would be laden with home-cooked goodies, and always baked a homemade birthday cake on birthdays. She was also known far and wide for her famous award-winning blueberry pies."
