[30816] Find A Grave Memorial 135561435 offers: "Viscount Hereford (1550), 3rd Baron Ferrers of Chartley (1501), Knight of the Garter (1523). High Steward of Tamworth (1510), Joint Constable of Warwick Castle (1511), Captain in the Army for Spain (1512), Keeper of Nethwood Park (1513), Councilor and Royal Commissioner of Wales and the Marches (1513), High Steward of Hereford (1514), Captain in the English Army in France (1523), Bailiff of Sutton Colfield (1525), Steward of the Household to Princess Mary (1525), Councilor to the Princess of Wales (1525), Chief Justice of South Wales (1525), High Steward of Builth (1525), Chamberlain of South Wales, Carmarthen, and Cardigan (1526), Privy Councilor (1550), Joint Lord Justice and Lieutenant of Staffordshire (1551), Justice of the Peace for Staffordshire, Worcestershire, and Shropshire (1554)." Cf. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walter_Devereux,_1st_Viscount_Hereford.
[17042] See "The Great Migration Begins: Immigrants to New England 1620-1633, Vol. 2," Robert Charles Anderson (Boston: New England Historic Genealogical Society, 1995), pp. 910-914. His identity is not certain - see "Penobscot Pioneers," Philip Howard Gray (Camden: Penobscot Press, 1993), pp. 93-100. He and wife Edith were among the 30 original members of the Salem Church and he became a freeman with the first group of settlers on 18 May 1631. His residence was on the Rial Side of Salem, now Beverly, MA, and he joined the new First Church of Beverly in 1667. He is probably son of goldsmith William Herrick who was unexpectedly knighted in 1605 for drilling a hole in King James' favorite diamond. See "The History of Salem, Massachusetts," Sidney Perley (Salem, MA), Vol. 1, p. 305 which lists his children with Edith, and states that she survived him. Also see "Herrick Genealogical Register, Third Edition,"' Richard Leon Herrick (Holt, MI: Herrick Family Association, 2012).

[16556] William served three years in Capt. Truman's Company in the War for Independence, achieving the rank of Lieutenant. He owned much land. See "Colonial Families of the United States," III:630-35. The LDS Church's unverified IGI file gives his parents as William Woodward and Alice Ridgely Meeks.
