[60002] Ray's obituary: "Franklin - Ray Linwood Mosley, 84, passed away peacefully Friday, April 1, 2011, surrounded by his family and caregivers. Ray was very proud of his will to live and the fight he put up to conquer his failing health. Ray lived life to the fullest in his younger years. He was a member of the 'greatest generation,' a veteran of World War II, where he served as a rifleman in the 66th Infantry Division in the European Theatre. Ray worked various jobs after graduation from Husson College. He sold and repaired appliances, worked on the Maine Central Railroad, drove a Nissen bread truck and retired after many years of employment as a meat cutter and co-manager of Winter Harbor Food Service. Ray served as a justice of the peace, a notary public, and officiated at numerous marriages and funerals. Ray was community minded and served many years in many different capacities of local government, including chairman of Schoodic CSD School Board, Franklin town selectman, planning board, budget committee and the volunteer fire department, to name a few. He was a longtime member, trustee and former treasure of Franklin Methodist Church. Ray was a member and former treasurer/superintendent of Bay View Cemetery Association. He was a longtime member of David A. Hooper Lodge AF & AM, Sullivan, along with membership in Scottish and York Rites, in addition to Blanquefort Commandry, Anah Temple Shrine and Anah Flag Unit, where he also served as quartermaster. He was a member of Franklin Veterans Club, life member of Ellsworth Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 109 and American Legion Post No. 63. Ray is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Gloria (Reed) Mosley; daughters, Joann Cawood and her husband, Roy Glodis, of Portsmouth, Va., and Diane Connelly and her husband, Tim, of Waldoboro; sons, Norman Mosley and wife, Marghi, of Bridgewater, N.J., Randy Mosley and wife, Regina, and Steven Mosley and wife, Julie, all of Ellsworth; grandchildren, Nathan, Randi Lynn, Katelyn, Matthew, Allyson and Donald; sister, Myrle Beal; brothers, Lester Mosley and Gerald Mosley; many nieces and nephews. Ray was predeceased by parents, Linwood and Hazel (Coombs) Mosley; sisters, Gladys Watts, Erma Barden and Patricia York; brothers, Neal 'Buddy' Mosley, Lawrence 'Sparky' Mosley and Faye Mosley; and granddaughter, Rae Lynn Mosley. Ray will be especially missed by his niece, Heidi and her husband, Michael Heyden; friend, Debbie Kelley; and his special friend and 'right hand man,' Albert Richards."
