[1599] In 2007 http://fmg.ac/Projects/MedLands/BURGUNDY.htm offers: "The parentage of Giselbert is proved by a combination of documents: 'Hirmingardis comitissa . . . Walonis filii eius, Gilleberti filii eius alterius' subscribed the testament of 'Heriveus . . . Æduorum episcopus' dated 1 Nov 919 which names 'genitricis nostræ domnæ Hirmingardis venerabilis comitissæ et fratrum nostrorum . . . domnus Walo pius Præsul et noster avunculus'; the Vita Sanctii Viventii Presbyteri names 'Manasses . . . filius Gislebertus eiusdem Burgundiæ Dux'; 'Warulfus . . . virum nobilem . . .filio equivoco eius Warulfo' petitioned 'Ermengardis comitisse . . .seu filii eius Gisleberti comitis' for some donated property of Saint-Marcel-lès-Chalon by charter dated Jun 924. Comte d'Autun. 'Gisleberto comiti' is named in a charter of 'Vuarulfo' dated 5 Jun 926. He became Giselbert Duke of Burgundy, after his brothers-in-law Raoul and Hugues 'le Noir' ceded him their rights to Burgundy in [936]. The Annales Nivernenses record the death 'apud Parisius post pascha 956' of 'Gislebertus comes'. The Chronico Senonensi Sanctæ Columbæ records that 'Gisleberto Principe Burgundionum' died 'feria tertia post Pascha'. After Giselbert died, Lothaire King of France asserted control over the duchy of Burgundy. m (before May 926) ERMENGARD ---. 'Ermengars' sold land in Colonicas (pago Matisconense), with her husband 'Gillevertus', by charter dated May 926. According to Du Chesne in 1625, she was Ermengard, daughter of Richard 'le Justicier' Duke of Burgundy. More recently this affiliation has been challenged, in particular because she is not mentioned in her supposed mother's will. In addition, if it is correct that Giselbert's mother was the daughter of King Boso, she would have been her husband's first cousin."
[54170] Richard was a Lt. Col. in the U.S. Army during World War II. He is son of Edgar Fuller Cousins (1888-1983) & Arline L. Brown (1890-1923; m. 25 November 1914 in ME).

[20238] Zachariah m. (1) 16 Dec 1858 Margaretta Bovard Clark (b. 1814) and (2) 18 Feb 1874 Susan Wingert Shelly (d. 1905). "History of the Susquehanna & Juniata Valleys" (1886), pp. 429-30: "Probably the most noted stage route in this territory, if not in this State, was that opened in 1853 by Zachariah Rice....No stage-lines were in operation in Perry County, and all the mails for the interior were carried by post-riders. In that year he established a daily stage and mail route from Landisburg, through Loysville, Green Park and Bloomfield, to Newport, and a tri-weekly stage to Germantown; the latter in 1856 was make a daily line. Soon after this, lines were established by Major Alexander Barnes from Ickesburg to Newport and from Ickesburg to Millerstown, which were purchased in 1863 by Zachariah Rice, who continued in the management of the various lines until his death, in 1880. His sons - Samuel, Jesse, William, James, Henry, Zachariah and Joseph - each became drivers on the various routes, and succeeded to the business upon the death of their father. At present (1885) the lines from Landisburg and New Germantown to Newport are owned and conducted by Zachariah and Joseph Rice, the route from Landisburg to Carlisle by Henry Rice and that from Ickesburg to Newport and Millerstown by Samuel Rice."
