This Tree states he is in the Campsie, Stirlingshire, Scotland 1861 census, so his arrival in America was around 1862/3. He r. in PA briefly and in the 1880 census is in Chippewa Twp., Wayne Co., OH as a coal miner. http://www.usbiographies.org/ohio/bios/wayne/chippewatwp.txt offers (from "The History of Wayne County, Ohio" [B. E. Bowen & Co., 1910]): " The population of Chippewa township in 1900 was two thousand nine hundred and thirty-seven. The coal mining interests of this township have been very extensive and valuable.
