[46227] "Mount Union Times [Mount Union, Pennsylvania], 13 November 1914," p. 5: "Mrs. Jane Ann Stitt, the widow of Mark Campbell Stitt, was born Nov. 4, 1840; and died last Friday evening, Nov. 6th, 1914, at 7:15 p. m., aged 74 years and 2 days. On going about her evening work, about five o'clock, she suddenly sank into her daughter's arms, surviving the stroke but a couple of hours, not rallying sufficiently to speak. She had just said 'It is time to do the evening work,' one daughter had just left her side, when the other with her noticed her about to fall and caught her. Her husband died March 26th, 1913. He was an elder of the Shade Gap Presbyterian Church. They were very good people who will be greatly missed. Mrs. Stitt spent her entire life on the spot where she was born. Her father was Wm. Campbell Fleming, who with his family resided on this same farm three miles South of Neelytown, Pa. Mr. and Mrs. Stitt had a long married life and always lived on this old Fleming Homestead farm. Their daughters, Lizzie, Bell and Eva remained with them, devoted to their welfare. Mrs. Stitt is survived by three other children, Blair H. Stitt of near Gettysburg, Mrs. J. Martin Peterson of Honey Grove, Pa., and Wm. F. Stitt, of Altoona. there are a number of grandchildren."
