[2176] "Juhel de Totnais ap Alvred Lord Barnstable"; married Maud _____. {-"Some Early English Pedigrees," Vernon M. Norr (Arlington, VA, 1986 - typescript at Library of Congress, 7/89, p. 34)} Another source states that he married _______de Picquqny, and that he was Lord of Barnstable in Devonshire. http://www.westcountryinsight.co.uk/The_Town_of_Barnstaple_North_Devon.html offers: "When the 'Normans' came to England in 1066, this proud town which had with-stood Danish raids for so long finally fell. And in the year 1068, the 'Norman invaders' garrisoned the Town. They built a Bailly Castle, and Mottle on the grounds of a ancient Saxon burial mound. And duly recorded Barnstaple in the Domesday Book of 1088,. And the following text is taken from the Domesday Book. (The King has a borough called Beardestaple which King Edward (T.R.E. Tempor Regis Edwardi, Which is translated as the day King Edward was alive and is dated the 5th January 1066). The year the 'Normans' invaded. 'William the Conquer' held Barnstaple, for himself. And it was not until Henry the 1st, came to the throne that a first Lord of Barnstable was created. That being one Judhael of Totnes, who founded the priory of St Magdalene."

[60876] Ralph's obituary: "Seal Cove - With heavy hearts we say good-bye to a truly amazing husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Surrounded by love with his family, Ralph W. Hodgdon II passed away at home after a long courageous battle against cancer. He was born February 08, 1946 in Brunswick, son of Ralph W. Sr. and Betty D. (White) Hodgdon. Ralph was an avid sports fan, had a true love for the 'game' always staying loyal to his favorite team, The Boston Red Sox. Along with his love of sports, Ralph had an unconditional love for animals. His pets were truly loved and adored, spoiled to the hill, and never a moment lacking attention. Ralph also had an unquestionable love for his family. Truly adored his wife, forever proud of his children and grandchildren, and greatly admired his friends. We all feel more than blessed to have been such a loving part of his life and will miss him dearly. Ralph leaves behind his beloved wife, Terry (Hopkins) Hodgdon; sons, Ralph Hodgdon and wife Natalie, Brandon Hodgdon and wife Laura; step-daughters, Dawn Gray, Melanie Corcoran and husband Matt; step-son, Chad Campbell and wife Michelle; sisters, Carolyn and Gwendolyn Hodgdon; grandchildren, Tyler, Trent, William, Sam, Codie, McKenzie, Alexa, Sarah, Matt, Treavor, Jared, Jamie, Payton, Kilee, Evan, Suri, and Cooper; and great-grandchild, William (Wes). Along with his parents, Ralph was predeceased by his brother, James Hodgdon."
