[37352] The line is from the unverified Stuart-Archer Family Tree in Ancestry.com in 2014. A note in Ancestry.com in 2014 offers: "John Sheldon Gray, Jr was born in Marblehead, MA where his mother was born and his parents married. The 1799 census of Clinton, ME shows a birthdate of 5 Oct. 1770, but Marblehead Vital Records indicate a son named John baptized 30 Sept. 1770 and another son John baptized 19 Sept. 1773; the first son John likely died before the baptism of the second and our John must be the second. In the early 1770's, likely while an infant, he accompanied his parents in their move to what is now Clinton, ME (then Sebasticook, Sevenmile Brook, Hancock Plantation); probably that part of Clinton which is now Benton, ME. He married in 1793 in Winslow, ME; was in Fairfield, ME in 1797; in Harmony, ME (where his parents settled and died) in abt. 1802; removed to Township #14 ED BPP (Cathance Lake), ME after 1820; to Township #25 ED BPP "Great Meadow Ridge," now Wesley, ME about 1822. He was one of the earliest settlers of Wesley, ME. He, his wife and family appear in the 1799 local census taken at Clinton, ME, but does not appear in the 1800 Federal census the following year. They are listed, instead, in the 1800 census at Fairfield, ME. They apparently left Fairfield in 1802, as John does not appear on the tax rolls there that year. John Gray purchased lot #16, 100 acres, at Township 25, Wesley, ME 18 Sept. 1828. John is buried at Wesley Ridge Cemetery, Wesley, ME." The unverified file M681-L7Y in familysearch.org in 2023 offers: "When Captain John Sheldon Gray Jr. was born on 23 February 1742, in Sheepscot, Newcastle, Lincoln, Maine, United States, his father, John Gray, was 34 and his mother, Elizabeth Winslow, was 38. He married Elizabeth Skeel Roundy on 11 August 1769, in Marblehead, Essex, Massachusetts, United States. They were the parents of at least 3 sons and 5 daughters. He died on 20 February 1846, in Harmony, Somerset, Maine, United States, at the age of 103, and was buried in Harmony, Somerset, Maine, United States."
[61861] General Herbst served in World War II and the Korean and Vietnam Wars. His obituary: "Leonard Robert Herbst, 80, Sturgis, died Sunday, March 20, 2005, at his home. Survivors include his wife, Vivian Herbst, Sturgis; one son, Bob Herbst, Vail, Colo.; one daughter, Barbara Herbst, Sturgis; and one sister, Wilma Bowers, Freemont, Calif."
