[22296] http://fmg.ac/Projects/MedLands/HUNGARY.htmoffers in 2007: "Possible relative of the kings of Hungary, precise relationship not known: Hedwig of Hungary. The Chronicle of Gaimar, written in [1155], contains a confusing account of the 'elder ætheling Edgar' (presumably an error for Edmund) having a love affair with the daughter of the king of Hungary who became pregnant and whom he married, and by whom he was the father of Queen Margaret of Scotland. The Chronicle of Ailred, abbot of Rievaulx, also refers to Edmund having married the daughter of the Hungarian king. Edmund's wife is named Hedwig in Burke's Guide to the Royal Family, although the primary source on which this is based has not been identified. In the absence of further information, the accuracy of these reports must be considered dubious as none of the Hungarian kings during the first half of the 11th century provides an obvious match. In the case of King István, it is likely that all his daughters predeceased their father in view of the accession of his nephew, King Péter, when he died. In any case, his daughters would have been beyond child-bearing age when the ætheling Edmund arrived in Hungary, assuming this arrival took place in [1046] as is probable. As the ætheling brothers were closely linked to King András I, it is unlikely that Edmund would have married a daughter of either of his disgraced predecessors King Péter or King Samuel Aba, and any daughters of the former at least would have been too young for such a marriage. Finally, any daughters of King András himself would certainly have been too young for the marriage. There is therefore considerable doubt about the historical authenticity of this Hungarian princess or her marriage to Edmund. m Edmund of England, son of Edmund 'Ironsides' King of England & his wife Ældgyth --- (1016-before 1054)." He was born Nov. 9, 1928, in Bar Harbor to Betsey E. (Higgins) and Malcolm B. Peach. Arden graduated from Bar Harbor High School in 1947 and married his high school sweetheart, Liane Nickerson, in 1951. Arden and Liane shared over 65 years of love and life together in Bar Harbor. Arden served in the U.S. Army as a front-line medic in the Korean War. Arden was proud to have been able to serve his country, and in later years remained active in various veterans organizations and American Legion Post 25 in Bar Harbor. Upon returning from Korea, Arden joined The Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor and remained there for a career that spanned more than 40 years. During the 1970s, Arden joined the ranks of the Bar Harbor Police Reserves and actively served for many years as a 'regular.' He worked night shifts as a patrolman during the summer months and provided supervision and crowd control at local gatherings and local sporting events throughout the year. Arden and Liane built a wonderful camp at Little Webb Pond in Waltham, where they enjoyed family and friends for close to 50 years. Camp became one of their favorite places, and the people of Waltham and the Little Webb community held a very special place in their hearts. Arden is survived by his loving sister, Eleanor Raynes of Bar Harbor; his children, Cynthia Peach and husband, James Chaput, Daniel Peach and husband, Ricky Dyer, Douglas Peach and wife, Ellen; and his grandchildren, Elizabeth Chaput, Thomas Chaput, Kate Peach, Kristen Peach, Ben Peach, Emma Peach and Adam Peach, as well as many nieces and nephews."
