"The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 2 May 1977, p. 24: "Amherst - Reginald J. Leighton, 61, died unexpectedly Saturday at an Ellsworth hospital. He was born in Steuben Nov. 15, 1915, the son of Everett and Maude (Willey) Leighton. Mr. Leighton was a member of the K & P Lodge of Cherryfield, Union River Snowmobile Club of Amherst, Maine State Employes' Association. He was employed by the State Highway Department where he worked for 10 years. He is survived by his mother of Sorrento; his wife, Marie (Davis) Leighton, of Amherst; three sons, Frank Farren Jr. of Augusta, Richard Leighton and Arthur Leighton, both of Amherst; one daughter, Mrs. Clyde (Jeannie) Fulton of Iola Kansas; one brother, Bernell Leighton of Unionville; two sisters, Mrs. Roger (Elizabeth) Mathews of Cherryfield, Mrs. Dorothy Perry of Sorrento; eight grandchildren; several aunts and uncles."

Melusky, Shenandoah, founder of the Shenandoah Abattoir many years, and sponsor of the Locust Mountain Hospital, fell dead in his food store, victim of a heart attack. Melusky was a native and lifelong resident of Shenandoah and one of its leading citizens. Retiring from the affairs of the Shenandoah Abattoir Company, he reopened a former place of business dealing in special foods and delicatessen. Surviving are his widow, four children, two sisters and several grandchildren."
