[52047] "The Ellsworth American [Ellsworth, Maine], 15 January 2019": "Blue Hill - Jack L. Grindle, 73, passed away Jan. 10, 2019, at Northern Light Blue Hill Hospital after a long struggle with vasculitis, a disease he met with grace and humor. He was born Dec. 28, 1945, in Blue Hill, the son of Basil and Nora (Staples) Grindle. He was a graduate of George Stevens Academy, Class of 1965, and SMVTI in 1967, where he received an associate degree in building construction. He then enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served as a Sea Bee during the Vietnam War until 1973. Upon discharge, he returned home and began his own construction business, Jacks Construction Co., which he operated successfully for 40 years. On July 10, 1982, he married Barbara L. Hurd. They spent countless hours trail riding their horses together. As a lover of the outdoors, he was often hunting, hiking, cutting wood and riding his tractor on the family homestead in Grindleville. His goofy sense of humor, down-to-earth sensibility and happy-go-lucky personality will be forever cherished and missed. Jack is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara, of 36 years; son, Wade and wife, Therese Grindle, of Blue Hill; stepdaughter, Lindley (Holbrook) and husband, Daniel Gray, of Ellsworth; stepson, Donald Holbrook, and wife, Erica, of Dana Point, Calif.; sister, Barbara M. Grindle; brothers, Thomas and wife, May, Roger and wife, Susan; two grandchildren, Alexandra Holbrook and Jasper Grindle; brother-in-law, Raymond McVay and many nieces and nephews. Jack was predeceased by his parents; a sister, Jane McVay; brother, Robert Grindle and brother-in-law Burt Grindle. Calling hours will be Friday, Jan. 25, from 5-7 p.m., and a service of remembrance will be held Saturday, Jan. 26, at 1 p.m. at Jordan-Fernald Funeral Home 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth. . . . Interment will be at Pine Grove Cemetery in the spring."
[38538] The 1900 federal census in Oliver Twp., Jefferson Co., PA lists William and wife Ellen (age 33), both b. in PA, and their children.
