She was born June 4, 1933 in Van Buren, a daughter of Lester and Sarah (ODonall) Archer. She attended Brownville High School. Pauline will be remembered as an excellent cook, gardener, avid reader and bird watcher, but most of all she loved her grandchildren. She was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Exeter. In her early years she worked as a stitcher at San Antonio Shoe. She is survived by her husband, Gerald Ellis, currently of Fairfield; 3 sons, Sherwood and wife Connie of San Antonio, TX, Arthur and wife Janice of Dexter, Gary and wife Karen of Kittery; 2 daughters, Sharon and husband David Rowe of Benton, and Tammy McCaw of Plymouth; 11 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandson. She was predeceased by 10 brothers and sisters."

From our Amberson correspondent: "The ruthless hand of death claimed as its victim Mary E. Piper, one of the our most highly respected aged ladies. Her demise occurred at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Fegan, near Doylesburg, whither she had gone only last Wednesday, having been called there by the serious illness of Mr. Fegan. Previous to this she had been visiting for several months with her daughter, Mrs. S. Shoemaker at La Park, Pa. - was in fair health, but on Saturday night, after a few complaints of a pain in her back, she went to retire and immediately on ascending the stairs she fell and in a few moments life was extinct.
"Mrs. Piper was the wife of the late L. M. Piper, whose death occurred at Sealy, Texas, January 4, 1914, having been deserted by him in January 1870, with a family of small children, at Harrisburg, her life became one of privation and work, but through it all she remained true to her marriage vows until the day of her death. She was greatly loved by many as she had been an inmate of many, many homes, caring for those in sickness and performing many last rites for the dead. None [k]new her but to love and many are the hearts who today are sad.
"About six years ago, Mrs. Piper obtained the one-half interest of her husbands pension and after his death she secured the widow's pension, so that her late years were more pleasantly spent than the previous ones. A member of the Catholic Church at Doylesburg, where her remains will be laid beside her son, who preceded quite a few years.
"For many years her home was wherever she took her bonnet off, either in homes of her children, or any of our other people, and she was always a most welcome inmate and she in turn always tried to make herself useful. She will be missed not only by her children but by many of us with whom she had labored.
"She is survived by these children: W.T. Piper, of this place; Mrs. Sam. Shoemaker of La Park, Pa.; and Mrs. John Fegan, of Doylesburg. Her maiden name was Eckenrode, early settlers of the valley and most excellent people.
"Farewell 'Aunt Ellen' as she was familiarly called. No more heartaches or days of toil and sorrow, but you forever bask in the sunshine of God's love, and whose faithful handmaiden you have been. To the sorrowing children, look aloft, be firm and true to your God and again you shall clasp hands with mother.
"She was aged about 78 years."

Phillips, of Winter Haven, Fla., and Wayne, Maine, died peacefully at home in Wayne after a long battle with Parkinsons disease with his family at his bedside. Bob was 78 years old. Bob was born on Aug. 31, 1945, in Blue Hill, the son of Harold Maurice Phillips and Hildred (Williams) Phillips. He grew up in that small town, never venturing too far unless it was a trip to Selden (near Danforth) to visit family. It was there that he learned to fish for brook trout with his Uncle Alton and cousins Bobby and Roger. There were lots of chances to fish at home too over the years, especially along Mill Brook by his home winding its way from the back side of Blue Hill Mountain on into the Blue Hill Bay. Those growing-up years were also marked by participation in most school athletics, Boy Scouts, a newspaper route, tending lawns and gardens around town, music lessons, a couple summers working at the Weekly Packet newspaper, spending too much money every year at the Blue Hill Fair, and riding his bike all over the place in a time before helmets and paved bike lanes."

[7578] "The Perry County Democrat, 29 August 1945," p. 3: "From our New Germantown correspondent - This community was deeply shocked to hear of the sudden passing away of Mr. Foster Seager at about 3 o'clock, Wednesday morning of a heart attack. He had come downstairs and after taking some medicine, he felt better and insisted on his wife going back to bed. She wasn't in bed long until she heard him going out to the porch; coming downstairs she heard him fall and when she got to him he had passed away. He was a life-long resident of this vicinity, on the farm. He was formerly a County Commissioner and was Superintendent of the U. S. Government Forestry Project. Mr. Seager was a member of the New Germantown Lutheran Church and was 63 years old. He was a devoted father and husband and not only will be sadly missed in the home but the community will also feel his loss. Funeral services were held in the Lutheran Church Saturday at 2.30 p. m., conducted by his pastor, Rev. Foulke. assisted by Rev. Bair, the Methodist minister. Interment in the Blain cemetery. He leaves to mourn his loss, besides his wife, one son, John, home on the farm, and one grandchild, Barbara Jean Seager. We extend our sympathy to his widow and son. Those who attended the funeral from a distance were Mrs. Blanche Colyer, of Buffalo, N. Y.; Miss Anna Mary Showers, of Philadelphia; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Buhman, of Steelton; Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Philips, John Barnhart, Harrisburg; George College, Mt. Joy; Mr. and Mrs. Meade Showers, Altoona; Mr. and Mrs. David Showers, Mifflintown; Mr. and Mrs. Foster Shearer and daughter Jeanne, York; Miss Mary, George and Frank Briner, Mrs. Z. M. Willhide, Mr. and Mrs. Clae Willhide and Culver Willhide, Carlisle."
