[42372] Charlotte's obituary: Charlotte M. Derau, 81, beloved wife, mother, sister and nana, passed away June 2, 2011, surrounded by her loving family at her home. Charlotte was born Dec. 6, 1929, in Bangor, the daughter of Gertude and Frederick Bryant. She married her beloved husband, Frederick "Mickey" Derau, Aug. 6, 1954, and together they built their home in Eddington, where they raised their three children. Charlotte loved to bake, knit and crochet for her family and friends. Charlotte "Princess Pine" was predeceased by her loving husband, May 30, 2008. Surviving are her three loving children, Cheryl Swedberg and her husband, Roger, of Old Town, Susan Derau of Eddington and Frederick "Mickey" Derau Jr. and Dennis Hunt of Eddington. She is also survived by two sisters, Nina Cleland and Loretta Richter; three brothers, George Bryant, Walter Bryant and John Bryant; special niece, Ellen Plissy and her family of Georgia; sister-in-law, Marion Touhy of Massachusetts; many nieces and nephews. Charlotte was the proud Nana to Roger, Melissa, Ethan, Rachel, Noah, Hannah, Abby, Ben and Terri; great-grandmother to Faith; and special friend to the Bouliers

She was born in Hampden February 10, 1932 the daughter of Lewis C. and Velma (Arey) Giles. Shirley was a lifelong resident of Hampden. She made and taught ceramics at her home in Hampden for many years. She enjoyed flowers and going to craft shows and to garage sales. She was known for her blueberry design ceramics which she sold around the area. Shirley is survived by her husband of 58 years whom she married on September 11, 1948, Ralph Sr. of Hampden, her children; Ralph Cobb, Jr. of Hampden, Scarlet Rose Bezio of Bangor and Andrew S. Cobb of Augusta, three brothers; Lewis Giles, Jr. and his wife Dottie, of Hampden, Robert Giles and his wife Jessie, of Newburgh, Frank Giles and his wife Renate of Hampden, two sisters, Florence Allbritton and her husband Donald, of Louisiana and Lucille Veinote and her husband Robert, of Dixmont, 9 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased her parents, her son Dale Cobb in December 2001, a brother Stanley Giles and by two sisters, Kathleen Babcock and Geneva La Chance."
