http://home.wxs.nl/~voort359/home3alsac.html identifies Eberhard as son of Luitfried I Eticonides, Duke of Alsace (707-767) and Edith (720?-?) - Luitfried is identified as son of Adalbert I Eticonides, Duke of Alsace (675/685?-741?) and Gerlinde of Austrasia (695?-?) [this Luitfried is shown in my database as Eberhard's uncle]. This site states that Eberhard is father of Meginhard of Hamalant, who in turn is father of Eberhard II of Alsace, Count of the Nordgau.
