John emigrated with his father in 1638; was elected first representative of Harwich, MA to the General Court; was soldier (Lt.) in King Philip's War under the command of Capt. Samuel Moseley (from 20 Dec 1675); was a freeman by 1655; died before his father. Jean Mayo-Lakatos (jmayolak@tampabay.rr.com) shared via email in June, 2003: Lt. John Mayo2 ( Rev. John1 ) was born ca. 1630. He married Hannah Lecraft Jan. 1, 1650/51 in Eastham, MA.He died in 1706 in Eastham. His estate was probated Nov. 4, 1706 in Eastham.Hannah Lecraft was born after 1636. Her surname has also been spelled as Reycraft. She was of Yarmouth, MA. She died after 1702, as she is mentioned in her husband's will prepared in 1702. Her parentage is not known. Lt. John Mayo was said to have come to Eastham in 1644 and lived out his life there. He was appointed surveyor of highways on June 3, 1656. He was appointed on Nov. 14, 1676 to oversee the will of Nicholas Snow. He undoubtedly made frequent trips to Boston as he receipted at various times for the regular payments which the Second Church at Boston made to his father between the time the Rev. John Mayo gave up his ministry there in 1673 until his death in 1676. Lt. John Mayo took part in the Colonial Wars and fought at the Great Swamp Fight in the King Phillip's War, under the command of Capt. Samuel Moseley, probably riding his father's horse which was killed. Known children of Lt. John Mayo and Hannah Lecraft, all born in Eastham, MA., were:
a. John: b. Dec. 15, 1652. I have nothing further on him.
b. William: b. Oct. 7, 1654; m. Elizabeth Ring.
c. James: b. Oct. 3, 1656; m. unknown; m. Sarah Elkins.
d. Samuel: b. Apr. 2, 1657/58; m. Sarah Canterbury.

The Mayo Book has further information concerning all of the children named above.
3. Jeremiah Mayo4 (Daniel3, John2, Rev. John1): was born ca. 1700, based on grave stone record " in his 65th year ". He married Elizabeth Mulford on June 17, 1725 in Truro, MA. He died Nov. 9, 1765 in Wellfleet, MA. He is buried in Duck Creek Cemetery. He was elected Treasurer of the North Eastham Precinct (now Wellfleet) in 1729, 1730, and 1739. He was elected Assessor 1736-38, 1746, 1750, and 1753. Elizabeth Mulford was born June 30, 1701 in Eastham, MA., d/o Thomas Mulford2 (Thomas1) and Mary Bassett. She died June 14, 1761 in Wellfleet, MA. at age 59. The grave stone record said " aged almost 60 years ". The brothers Daniel and Jeremiah Mayo married sisters, Mary and Elizabeth Mulford. Known children of Jeremiah Mayo4 and Elizabeth Mulford, all born in Eastham, MA., were:
a. Ruth: b. July 28, 1725; m. Zoheth Smith.
b. Jemima: b. Feb. 18, 1730/31; m. Joseph Atkins.

g. Benjamin: b. Nov. 21, 1742; m. Hannah Foster.
The Mayo Book has further information about the children above named Ruth, Jemima, Thomas, Joshua, and Benjamin. I'm looking at the book, and it seems like you would find a good line of descent for the children named Thomas and Benjamin. It looks good for the following:
a. Thomas Mayo5 and Bethiah Atkins' son, Joshua Atkins Mayo, born Oct. 4, 1758, married Martha Nickerson. There is further information about them and that Mayo line of descent.
b. Benjamin Mayo5 and Hannah Foster's son , Benjamin Mayo, born ca. 1768, married Hannah Sarah Gleason. There is further information about them and that Mayo line of descent. Both are sons of Jeremiah Mayo4.
"Directory of the Ancestral Heads of New England Families, 1620-1700", Frank R. Holmes, compiler (Baltimore: Genealogical Publishing Co., 2008), p. 161 offers: "MAYO. [49126] "Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine], 17 September 2021": "Samuel Schoppee Silsby III of Manchester, Vermont, died on September 8, 2021, at home with his family and dog by his side. The cause was pancreatic cancer. He was 62 years old. Sam was born in Bangor, Maine, on August 23, 1959, the third child of four born to Frances Litchfield Silsby and Samuel Schoppee Silsby Jr. Sam grew up in Augusta, Maine, and graduated from Cony High School. In pursuit of adventure outside of a classroom and creating his own path, Sam enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served four years while stationed in RAF Upper Heyford, England. Sam was honorably discharged June 7, 1982, as sargent and completed the Reserves January 31, 1984. During his time in England, he frequently visited cherished childhood family friends in northern England, and to this day the two families remain as one. Sam returned to Maine after his military service and enrolled in a two-year degree program offered by the University of Maine at Augusta, and the former Maine Photographic Workshop in Rockport, Maine. Following his graduation, he and a friend left to seek love and their fortunes in Vermont. Sam found work as an apprentice to a local plumber and eventually earned his master plumbing license and for many years he operated his own successful business. Sam was known in the community for his generosity, honesty, work ethic, and meticulous attention to detail. To see a boiler installed by Sam is to see true artistry. Sam also found love in Vermont. He met his beloved wife, Victoria, while they were each out walking their dogs on a dirt road in the Mettowee Valley. Sam and Victoria married in Bennington in 1988, and together raised two children, Elizabeth and Samuel IV, cats, and several Brittany Spaniels, Sam's breed of choice. Sam was a self-taught carpenter, who used his considerable skills to renovate the family home and plant an ever-expanding perennial garden. Always thinking outside of the box, Sam was instantly inspired by the possibilities of giving the gift of life. He supported donating blood, platelets and plasma. Sam had a passion for fact finding, continuously educating himself. With Sam being true to his selfless and caring nature, he became a non-directed living organ donor through the National Kidney Registry. On May 13, 2011, Sam donated one of his kidneys. Sam's mindset was, 'Well, I have two and can live with just the one kidney so why not help someone who needs one.' Sam was a devoted, protective husband, father and brother. Always enjoying visits to Maine to see his mother, sisters, nieces, and nephews. It was rare that those visits didn't include a lobster dinner preceded by oysters on the half shell and a couple pounds of clams. Sam was a talented self-taught cook who fondly loved reading recipes and perfecting the art of smoking meats. Sam zealously guarded his secret recipe for his barbecue sauce and carries that with him today. Most often Sam would take over the kitchen and was truly the happiest cooking for his friends and family while having his love for '70s classic rock playing in the background. Like his father, Sam was drawn into history and avidly pursued books and antique carpentry hand tools. Sam also enjoyed annual trips to the Jersey Shore and Connecticut with 'the boys.' Sam is survived by his wife, Victoria (Bucknall) Silsby and their daughter, Elizabeth, of Portland, Maine; their son, Samuel IV; his mother, Frances L. Silsby of Gorham, Maine; his sisters, Carolyn A. Silsby and her partner, Stanley W. Piecuch, of Camden, Maine, Joanna S. Wallingford and her husband, Mark, of Auburn, Maine, and Nancy S. Owens and her husband, Scott, of Gorham, Maine, and their families. Sam was predeceased by his father in 2008. Endearing personal connections blurred the labels of friends and family. Sam always assured the front door was open, a seat was at the table, and food was in the fridge. Sam was the first to volunteer his help to any friend or family member in need. He will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him."
