Briner, died at his home on High Street, this place (New Bloomfield), Friday evening last week, ater an illness of the last three days, form intestinal paralysis. Tuesday evening he was seized with cramps but despite medical aid he was not relieved until the next morning and was bedfast until his death. He suffered intensely and Friday his condition was much worse, but he rallied a brief period before his death. Dr. J.A. Sheibley of Shermansdale, was called in consultation with Dr. E.E. Moore, his physician, and all that medical skill could suggest was done, but of no avail. His bowls were paralized but heart failure was the immediate cause of his death. That organ was on his right side. He was aged 25 years, 11 months, and 22 days. The deceased was born in this place April 1, 1892, and lived all his life in this community. On October 17, 1912, he married Miss Myrtle Trosle, of New Germantown, at Hagerstown, MD. by the Rev. Charles L. Pate, of the Methodist Episcopal Church officiating. He was a member of the Jr. O.U.A.M., of this place, and of the M.E. Church, of which he was a faithful member. He was a lover of sports and played football with the winning team at New Bloomfield in 1911 and 1912. He also was known by many baseball stars and played a number of years. In 1913 and 1914 he also played with the Newport teams and with New Cumberland several seasons. He had been employed by the S.R.&W.R.R. for six years and on June 11, 1815, was squeezed between the couplers of two cars since which time he had not been in the best of health. He served as brakeman when he entered the employ; later he was promoted to fireman and also made the daily runs as engineer for a short time, when he was chosen conductor and continued in that position up until about three months ago when after station agent C.G. Weaver's deeath he entered the railroad office and from there he was made ticket agent about a month ago at which he served up until his death. He was a member of the S.R.&W.R.R. Hunting Club and spent his ten days each fall on the hunting grounds of New Germantown. The deceased is survived by his wife and one son Donald, three years old; also by father and mother, the following brothers and sisters; Annie, Mrs. Roy Harter, of Detroit, Mich,; Leon B. in the U.S. Service at Camp Hancock, Augusta GA; Paul E., of Akorn, Ohio and William S., Margaret A., Edna M., Claire I., Mary E., and Frank A., of this place."
