[5612] Diana's father, the eighth Earl Spencer, died 29 March 1992 in London of a heart attack at age 68. He divorced Diana's mother and in 1976 married Raine McCorquodale of Dartmouth, daughter of the best-selling romance novelist, Barbara Cartland. The Princess, who has two older sisters and a younger brother, was brought up at her father's house on The Queen's Estate at Sandringham and also at Althorp House (not Althorp village), the family home.
