She was born on April 3, 1939, in Ellsworth, the daughter of Edwin and Minola (Moulton) Austin. She was predeceased by the love of her life, Orton Preble in 2022. Jane graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1957, and the Maine School of Practical Nursing in Presque Isle the following year. She did postgraduate work in nursing at Baylor University in Texas and was an exchange student in Sweden in 1961. Jane worked for over 16 years at the Maple Crest Nursing Home in Sullivan. She volunteered with hospice for over 25 years. Jane enjoyed the outdoors, cooking, baking, walking, and gardening. She loved her family and friends and was a member of the Hancock Congregational Church. Jane is survived by her son David Preble and wife Joyce of Hancock, her daughter Vanessa Preble and partner Jerry Roberson of Ellsworth, grandson Dustin Pinkham and partner Samantha Jones of Ellsworth, sister Sally Archer and husband Don of Cottonwood, Utah, and sister-in-law Margret Austin of Ellsworth. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on May 25, 2024, at Simpson Cemetery, in Sullivan."

'Bud' Bradshaw, 43, of Coldwater Township, a member of the Branch County sheriff's department for the past six years, died Tuesday in the Branch County Community Health Center shortly after he was admitted after suffering an apparent heart attack. Born in Battle Creek, he served in Asiatic Theater during World War II, and came to Coldwater from Reading in 1962. Surviving are daughters, Mrs. Frank G. (Gwendolyn) Adams of Reading and Mrs. Donald L. (Dawn) Cleveland of Allen; sons, Robert K. of Fremont, Ind., Richard A. and Reginald L., both of Coldwater; his mother Mrs. Lillian DeMott and his father Floyd R. Bradshaw, both of Battle Creek."

Also, I have a photograph of Asenath. She & Sherman are buried in Quincy, Illinois & together ran the first steam powered sawmill on the Mississippi River. She was born in Plymouth Hallow (now Thomaston) Connecticut & as a child she played with Seth Thomas. Generations 9 thru 13 are recorded in birth, marriage, & death documents specific for each individual. These are recorded in the vital record data bases of St. Louis, Mo., Quincy, Illinois., & Chicago, Illinois. "Capt. John Phinney(4) was the eldest son of Deacon John Phinney of Mass., and Sarah P. (Lombard) PHINNEY, and born at Barnstable, MA.
He was the founder of Gorham, ME and known as "Capt. John". At this time Maine was part of Mass. and the soldiers of the Indian wars felt that they should lay claim to the territory.
In 1727, after many delays, Massachusetts granted to the officers and soldiers, to each of one hundred acres.
His eldest son was later the distinguished COL Edmund PHINNEY, of Revolutionary War fame.
Capt. John married Sept. 25, 1718, Martha, daughter of John and Patience Coleman of Barnstable. About 1732, he removed with his family from Barnstable, MA to Falmouth, ME and settled in Gorham in 1736.
At beginning of French and Indian War, Capt. Phinney's and eight other families moved into the fort. Here those brave settlers, together with a handful of soldiers furnished by Mass. defended the fort for fourteen years against repeated attacks of the Indians.
Capt. Phinney was a brave, energetic, sagacious man, who "looked after the interests of the little colony that grew up around him, with the affection and discretion of a father. He died Dec. 29, 1780, aged 87 yrs. His widow died same age, Dec. 16, 1784, and both were bur. in Old Cem. in Gorham village. They had ten children: Elizabeth, b. 1721, m. Eliphlet Watson; 2) Edward, b. 1723; 3) stephen, b. 1725; 4)Martha, 1727; 5) Patience, 1730, m. Thom. Watson; 6)John, Jr., b. 1732; 7) Sarah, 1734, m. Sam Leavett; 8) Mary Gorham, 13 Aug. 1736, m. Jas. Irish. She was first white child born in Gorham; 9) Coleman, 1738, d. young; and 10) James, b. 1741.
A monument was erected in the middle of Gorham to his honor.

He died in 1870 at the age of 56. . . When Elvira Ann Herrick and her twin sister Elvira Ann were born on March 9, 1826, in Dexter, Maine, their father, John, was 39 and their mother, Sarah, was 38. She married Samuel Sewell and they had one daughter together. She then married Sewall Sewell about 1846, in Penobscot County, Maine. She died in 1899 in Merna, Nebraska, at the age of 73."
