[54684] "The Ellsworth American [Ellsworth, Maine]," 5 September 2023: "Blue Hill - John 'David' Cousins, 60, died on Aug. 8, 2023, in Ellsworth - David was born on Oct. 28, 1962, in Blue Hill. He attended George Stevens Academy and graduated in 1980. He spent most of his life in Maine, fishing and working in the family business, Webbers Cove Boatyards. On the water as a youngster, with his father and brother, he showed great tenacity as a fisherman, surviving many incredible 'perfect storm' moments. These epic stories of determination, survival and skill helped shape the man who meant so much to so many. He was a cherished son, brother, father, grandfather and friend. [6905] Homer Beers James' web site in 2003 reports: "Maurice de Berkeley, 2nd Lord Berkeley, the eldest son, known as 'The Magnanimous,' said to be born in April 1281 (must have been 1271, otherwise his son was born when he was only 12 years of age!) and died on May 31, 1326, having married in 1289 (1), both being very young, Eva (Eve) Zouche, daughter of Eudo (Eudes) le Zouche, a descendant of Saire de Quincy, sister of Willard Lord Zouche of Harringworth; (2) Isabel Clare, daughter of Gilbert de Clare, Earl of Gloucester, and his first wife, Alice le Brun. He received, in his father's lifetime, summons to parliament from August 6, 1308 to May 15, 1321. In 1312, he was made Governor of Gloucester and, in 1314, Governor of the town and castle of Berwick-upon-Tweed. He distinguished himself in the Scottish wars from 1295 to 1318, and was present at the siege of Carlaverock in July 1300. In 1315, he was constituted Justice of South Wales and had custody of all the castles there. In 1319, by the title of the king's beloved kinsman, he was made steward of the duchy of Aquitaine; but in 1321, joining Thomas Plantaganet, Earl of Lancaster, he was committed prisoner to Wallingford Castle, where he died December 5, 1314. Isabel d.s.p. 1333." Cf. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maurice_de_Berkeley,_2nd_Baron_Berkeley.

[19757] Find A Grave memorial 54769433 offers his obituary: "Robert 'Bob' Thompson, Sr., was born in Bristow, Oklahoma on August 17, 1923. With the onset of the Great Depression, BobÂ’s father lost his trucking business and in 1930, at seven years old, Bob was moved to Craig, Colorado, where his father found work. After a short stay in Craig, the family settled in Borger, Texas where Bob would graduate high school and meet the love of his life. In February of 1943, at the young age of 19, Bob wedded Mary Pauline Lawrence and they remained together for 62 years until her passing in February of 2005. During this time period the world was in a state of chaos with World War II in full motion, so just two weeks after his matrimony, Robert left to join the United States Marine Corps. He was stationed at Camp Pendleton in California and was soon deployed to the Pacific. Bob was assigned to the 4th Marine Division and took part in the invasion of Saipan in June of 1944 and the subsequent invasion of Tinian in July. Bob was wounded during the campaigns and later received the Purple Heart. Upon his discharge, in 1945, Bob returned to Borger, Texas to build and raise a budding family consisting of two boys and two girls. The Thompson family later moved to Amarillo where Bob went to work for Panhandle Steel erectors making blueprints, all the company bidding and served as a foreman until his retirement in the 1980Â’s. Bob was known for being a staunch Christian, a bowler, a beloved family man (his grandchildren and great-grandchildren affectionately call him 'Papa'), a fisherman, and a person that friends and strangers alike could call on when in need. His time here on earth had brought an abundance of wisdom about almost anything one could discuss and BobÂ’s total example in life undoubtedly contributed to all those who knew him. He will be deeply missed by many and was truly a significant member in what is sometimes called the 'Greatest Generation'. Robert 'Bob' Thompson, Sr., is survived by two daughters; Mary Ellen Gilchrest & Linda Squires of Amarillo, Texas, one son; Lawrence E. Thompson of Amarillo, five Grandsons, one Granddaughter, six great grandchildren and three great-great Grandchildren along with numerous extended family members and friends. He is preceeded in death by his wife Mary Pauline Thompson, one son Allen Thompson and was the last surviving member of his immediate family."
