"Catalogue of the Delta Kappa Epsilon Fraternity," G. E. Addie Sarah Rich, Eden [now Bar Harbor], ME 17 Nov 1879, pastored Baptist churches at Winter Harbor, ME, 1880-1883, & Lemoine, ME, 1883-1885; was Supt. of Schools in Lemoine, 1884-1885, pastor of the Baptist Church in Eden [now Bar Harbor], ME, 1885+, was Supt. of Schools, Bar Harbor, ME, 1885-1887, and is author of printed sermons.
Virginia Horler notes:
1870 Census Bradford, Penobscot, ME page 253: Asher F. Palmer (15) farm laborer, born in New Brunswick, lived with Caleb and Ann Humphrey.
On 17 November 1877 Asher married Addie Sarah Rich at Bar Harbor, Hancock, Maine.
In the 1880 census, Asher's first wife's family (John and Zena Rich and their children) lived in Eden, Hancock, Maine. I could not find Asher or his wife in this census.
From August 8, 1880 to June 13, 1886 a F. A. Palmer was the reverend at the Baptist Church in Boothbay, Lincoln Co., Maine. There are no F. A. Palmer's in the 1880 Census in Boothbay.??????
On June 3, 1896 Asher F. Palmer of Eden, Hancock, Maine married Millicent E. Coy of Bradford, Penobscot, Maine in No. Bradford, Penobscot, Maine. Asher had three children from his first wife when he remarried. Millicent's descendants say that Asher was a minister in Foxcroft, Maine while they were married.
1900 Census Foxcroft, Piscataquis, ME: Asher Palmer born May 1859 (41) married 4 years, born Canada (?), father and mother born in Maine, Occupation (Income??), rented a home; Millicent E., wife, April 1875, (35) had one child, living, self and parents born in Maine; Charles C. July 1882 (17) single, post office clerk; Fred R., Apr 1885 (15) at school; Hattie R. June 1888 (12) at school; Chauncy F. July 1897 (3). All four children reported born in Maine, father born in Canada, and mother born in Maine.
On November 3, 1900 the Daily Kennebec Journal (Augusta, ME) reported that "The following were admitted to the bar at the recent term of the S. J. court at Dover: Asher F. Palmer of Foxcroft; Hiram Gerrish, Brownville; Claude D. Graton, Burlington, Vt. Mr. Palmer, who is well known as a public speaker has been a student with C. W. Hayes, Esq. Mr. Graton and Mr. Gerrish are graduates of the U. of M. law school."
Ancestry World Tree reports that Asher Foster Palmer married Hermia Augusa Graves about 1903. She was born 23 August 1864 and married again in June 1925. Asher does not acknowledge this marriage in his 1910 census return in Seattle, Washington.
In about 1908 Asher married for the third (or fourth) time to Bertha Baron (Baren) born in France about 1886. She was 27 years younger than Asher.
1910 Census Seattle, Kings, WA ED 197 page 193A: Foster Palmer (43) married twice, married two years in present marriage, lived at 4822 Fundley Street, self and parents born in Maine, real estate broker, rented a house; Bertha, wife, (23) married once, married two years in present marriage, no children, self and parents born in France. NOTE: there are a number of errors in this record - Asher's name, age, number of marriages and place of birth.
Asher and Bertha had two children whose births are recorded in the Washington State Birth Index, 1907-1919. This is the only record that states that Asher's full name is Asher Foster Palmer.
Francis Baron Palmer (F) was born on 12 July 1910 (or 22 July 1910 - Calif. Death Record) in Seattle. Parents names: Asher F. Palmer and Francis B. Baron.
Unnamed male was born 3 May 1918 in Bellingham, Washington. Parents names: Asher Foster Palmer and Bertha F. Baren. No further record of this son.
In California in 1914 Asher and Bertha had another son, Foster A. Palmer (see census and California Death Index).
On August 1, 1919 Asher F. Palmer, aged 55 years, 2 months, arrived in Philadelphia, PA from Brest, France on the ship HAVERFORD. He gave his birthplace as Portland, Maine. NOTE: age five years too young and he was born in Canada, however, his mother, Sarah Jane Watts was born in Portland, Maine. Also, his wife, Bertha, was born in France and he may have taken his family to France.
1920 Census Bellingham, Whatcom, WA ED 222 page 142A: Asher F. Palmer owned a mortgaged house at 4202 Alabama Street, (54), traveling lecturer; Bertha F. (33) date of immigration unknown, naturalized; Frances B. (9) WA ME FR; Foster A. (6) California, ME, FR.
In 1930 Asher's widow, Bertha Palmer, lived in Los Altos, California. One of Asher's sons from his first wife, Frederick, lived with his family nearby in Palo Alto, and two of Bertha's children lived in Berkeley, California.

[29801] http://www.schneider-family.net offers: "Edward learned to be a telegraph operator from Frank Shrimplin, who was the operator at Greer. Ed and a friend of his, Albert Young, strung a wire between their homes and talked to each other to practice. It was possibly two miles across the fields. Aunt Carrie, his sister, told me that she was quite young then, but she thought it was a lot of fun to answer when Albert called, if Ed was not there. He was married in Oct 1903. before this however, his first job was at Cavallo, in Coshocton county, then he worked for several years at Greer, Ohio. We have a picture of him in the 25 acre farm 2.5 miles north of Loudonville on the Ashland Rd. across from the old No. 7 schoolhouse. We usually went home for lunch. in 1918 they moved to the Henry Schneider farm a little farther north off of the Ashland Rd. We (Lucy, Dick, Russel, and Lillian) walked to the No. 7 school from this farm, down across the fields, coming out on the Ashland Rd. at the old Wolf's Mill. It was closer than way around the road. They moved to the house on South Spring St. in Loudonville in 1929. He worked in the Motz grocery for about 17 years, then worked at the Flexible Co. for two years before his death in 1948. While his family lived in Holmes County he played the organ at the Kaylor Ridge Church. The church building is not there anymore, but it was across from the cemetery at the top of the hill on the way to Greer. It was St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran. He never took any music lessons, but his older sister, Sarah, took lessons, and he say close by and watched everything that was done, then would sit down and practice. "
