[39345] Find A Grave Memorial 67814240 offers: "Anna (Dunbar) Brett was of Mayflower descent (through Richard Warren) through her father. Per The Brett Genealogy, 'A sermon preached at Anna's funeral by the Rev. Stephen Fenn was printed in The Albany Gazette and afterwards published in book form. A copy given by Dr. Brett to his sister, Olive, was still in a good state of preservation after 150 years.' 'Note: "Olive Brett's book of Joshua H. Brett, Esq. Sermon taken from the Albany Gazette dated February 23, 1798. Departed this life on the 19th of February last, at Harpersfield, County of Delaware, State of New York, Ann Brett, consort of Hon. Joshua H. Brett, Esq., in the 37th year of her age. She was a dutiful wife, a sincere and affectionate mother, and a Faithful Friend." All this was in the handwriting of Dr. Brett'. Consort means wife of a dignitary. Joshua was a doctor, a judge and a member of the New York State Legislature for 14 years. Several of Joshua Brett's children lived to be over 90."

He was in the war of the Revoluton four and one-half years, being in the campaign which captured Burgoyne, and in the battles of Trenton and Princeton. He was with Benedict Arnold at Stony Point, and at Monmouth; also with Gen. Sullivan in that sad destruction of Indian fields and homes in the beautiful valley of Genesee. After returning from the war he married Wealthy Spencer, with whom he lived sixty-five years in the towns of Dover, Durham, Waldoboro, Alfred, and Swainville, ME. He died at the age of eighty-eight. His wife survived him nearly two years, dying at the age of eighty-four."
