Ave. A who died Monday in Maple Lawn Hospital, Coldwater, where he had been a patient three months. He was born in Steuben County, Ind. He retired in 1963 from the Calhoun County Road Commission where he had worked 11 years. He was a former lumber and log dealer. He was a veteran of World War I. Surviving are his widow, the former Mary Jane Callaway; a daughter, Mrs. Arden (Elsie) Mahoney of Mendon ; sons. Carl Green of Mendon. James of Bristol. Ind., Jerry of Battle Creek and Daryl of Leonidas; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren."

Hench Family Publishers, 1981). "The News-Sun [Newport, PA], 6 February 1975," p. 2: "Mrs. Ruth M. Shumaker, 57, of 29 Kenwood Ave., Carlisle, died Sunday at Carlisle Hospital. A 1936 graduate of Ickesburg High School, she was a former employe of the Green Park Union School District, Elliottsburg RD1, and J. C. Wentzel & Sons., Inc., Carlisle. She was a member of Tressler Memorial Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid, Loysville, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Moose, Carlisle. She was a charter member and past Noble Grand and District Deputy of the Lady-Landis Rebecca Lodge, Landisburg. Surviving are her husband, Lester W. Shumaker; three sons, J. Richard, of Carlisle RD2, Kenneth W., of Camp Hill, and Larry W., of New Bloomfield RD1 ; two brothers, Stanley G. Hench, of Loysville RD1, and Ralph J. Hench, of Enola; a sister, Mrs. Reed McMillan, of New Bloomfield RD1; and eight grandchildren. Services were held Wednesday at Tressler Memorial Lutheran Church, Loysville, with her pastor, the Rev. Russell R. Kerns, officiating. Burial was in Restland Cemetery, Perry County."

"The Sentinel [Carlisle, Pennsylvania], 15 Sep 1964," p. 6: "Gouvernor Rice died this morning at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. William C. Trego, RD 6, South Middleton Township. He was 93 years old. Born on Oct. 23, 1870, in Illinois, he lived most of his life in Cumberland County. He was the oldest living ex-groceryman in Carlisle, having conducted his store on South Hanover Street for many years where the Molly Hotel is now located. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church. Mrs. Trego is his only survivor."

(1907-1980, buried with William), William's obituary: "Son of a Favorite Resident Dies - William Wayne Stinson, 34, son of Mrs. Sadie Stinson, of Philadelphia, the former Sadie Haas, of Shamokin, died at his home in Bangor following an illness of several weeks. Mr. Stinson, whose grandfather, John K. Haas, was a pioneer Shamokin wholesaler, was well known to many Shamokin residents. The Haas homestead was at Church and Marshall Streets, the present home of Joseph Howerth, retired Superintendent of the schools. The death of Stinson, who owned several drug stores in Philadelphia and Bangor, followed that of his father, William Stinson Sr., in less than a year. He is survived by his widow, mother and two sisters. Burial was in Philadelphia this afternoon. - Shamokin News Dispatch (Pa), Feb. 8, 1941"
