[14143] Children of this couple are from "Floyd's Genealogical and Biographical Annals of Northumberland County (PA)," p. 777. Nicholas was born at Atolhoe in the Tulpehoken settlement per Doris Rizza (see under 17520) and died in Upper Mahanoy Twp., Northumberland Co., PA. Wanice Haas on http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com reports: "It appears John Nicholas and Anna Maria lived in Bethel Twp., Berks Co. from 1774-1782 where their first six children were born. One son John was born in Jonestown, Lehanon Co., Pa. in 1784. A daughter Susanna was born in Northumberland Co., Pa. in 1786. Sons Abraham and Johan were born in Dauphin Co., between 1788 and 1790. Anna Maria's brother William (1757-1827) died in Dauphin Co. Could they have moved there to assist? Anna Catherine, George, and Johannes were born in Upper Mahanoy Twp. Northumberland Co. Pa. from 1792 to 1798. It seems the family probably moved back to this area after John Nicholas inherited land from his father. John Nicholas Schneider served in the Pa. Militia during the Revolutionary War. Genealogical and Biographical Annals of Northumberland County, Pennsylvania by J. L. Floyd * Co.: Johan Jacob Schneider, the first of the family in Northumberland county. He settled in what is now Upper Mahanoy township, being one of the very early settlers of the valley. He was a farmer by occupation, and lived on the farm now owned by Andrew Geist, the original place comprising a large acreage. He was born Sept. 10, 1749, and died Oct. 28, 1821; his wife Anna Maris (Bordner), born Nov. 25, 1756, died Dec. 23 1827. They are buried at Himmel's Church, in which vicinity the family is numerously represented. Johann Nicholas Schneider and his family were Lutherans, and in 1778 helped to organize Himmel's Church, and in 1818 he assisted in the building of the new church, the old log structure being replaced by one of stone. Many of his descendants are buried there also. The early members of the family were all good singers, and they were not only active in the church and in the choir but also in the singing schools held at that day. To Johann Nivholas and Anna Maria Schneider were born six children: Johan Jacob, Johan Peter, Abraham, George, Maria Christina (1779-1859, married Andreas Geist) and Anna Catharine (born July 6, 1792, married Johan Georg Erdman, 1787-1858: she died Aug. 20, 1842. and is buried at Herb church)."

[22322] He is identified as a child of William and Judith by Stephen Snowman via email (oldgoat@pivot.net) in 2003. He purchased the former store of Obed Leach with his brother, Charles, which they operated for many years - moving from the Wardwell Point vicinity to Northern Bay in Penobscot. The 1850 federal census in Penobscot, Hancock Co., ME lists him and his family. Cf. http://timames.net/snowsite/files/ChristianSnowmanDescendants.pdf.
