[50120] "Shamokin News-Dispatch [Shamokin, Pennsylvania], 16 September 1964," p. 8: "A brain hemorrhage has been given as the cause of death of Mrs. Betty J. Springer, 20, Milton R.D. 2, according to results of an autopsy performed yesterday, Montour County officials revealed today. The mother of four died yester day morning in Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, eight days after she was found unconscious in her home. The autopsy was performed yesterday in the Danville institution. Authorities said today they do not know what caused the fatal injury to the Limestone Township, Montour County, woman. 'We simply don't know under what circumstances the woman was injured, and probably wont know for a day or two," Sergeant Francis Sobocinski, officer in charge of the Milton State Police sub-station, said today. A report on the autopsy performed yesterday was given by C. Porter Wagner, Montour County coroner, and Dr. Jesse W. Gordner. Jr.. Montour County coroner. . . . Police were unable to question her because of her critical condition. The initial report of the case, issued Labor Day, the day she was found uncons cious, stated that she was believed struck on the head with a bottle and that she was apparently victim of assault. Husband of the woman, Paul Springer, was questioned by state police. . . . Mrs. Springer, the former Betty Paul, was a native of Sunbury. She is a daughter of Leroy Paul, Milton, and Mrs. Kathryn Paul, Sunbury."
