He was born Jan. 10, 1941, in Bangor, the son of Morris and Sylvia (Foss) Campbell. Sumner graduated from East Corinth Academy, class of 1959, where he played baseball and basketball. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force. Sumner worked for the state of Maine Department of Transportation for 27 years. He was a member of Corinth Baptist Church and American Legion. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Leland and Wilbert Campbell. Sumner is survived by his wife of 50 years, Donna; son, Shawn Campbell; daughter, Sonja and her husband, Scott Bragdon; six grandchildren, Rebekah, Hunter, Wyatt, Coby, McKenzie and Kelsee; sister-in-law, Pearl Campbell; brother-in-law, Terry Grant and his wife, Valerie; many nieces and nephews; and longtime friends, Robert and Joyce Coleman."
